Hellhounds can be found at the first floor of the Slayer tower, deep in the Wilderness (just east of the Deserted keep) and deep in Barbarian dungeon. All areas with hellhounds are multi-target, it is advised to use Protect from melee when fighting them. It is possible to kill hellhounds without prayer, but they hit often and quite hard. Hellhounds are the only monsters that drop Zamorak armour. They can be assigned as a slayer task by Vannaka.
