Coal is one of the main resources used for smelting higher tiers of bars.

Coal can be obtained by mining coal rocks in the Dwarven mine and in Barbarian village. It requires level 30 Mining to be mined, and grants 302 experience per ore. The four coal rocks in Barbarian village are the closest to a bank. One can also obtain Coal by mining Coal deposits, which can be found in the Living Rock Cavern. These grant more Coal per mined rock, but require level 80 Mining.

The amount of coal required to smelt a bar varies depending on the bar being created.
