The Rune hatchet requires an Attack level of 40 to be equiped. It can be purchased for 13,635 coins in Bob's Axes shop located in Lumbridge and Port Sarim. It can also be made by using the Smithing skill. This requires a Smithing level of 86 and 1 Rune bar and will grant 560 Smithing XP. The Rune hatchet is usually only used for the Woodcutting skill; a Woodcutting level of 40 is required to be able to cut logs with it.

Hatchets can be used from their inventory to cut wood with, if the player does not have the required Attack level to equip it.
