The Kharidian desert is an area south of Al-Kharid where you can do multiple things.The whole desert is a huge second wilderness, where you can safely fight other players without losing any items. You can also train thieving in Pollnivneach and do the quest Desert War there. The main way of transportation in this huge desert are magical carpets. Talk to Rug merchant next to these carpets to fly with them to multiple cities in the desert.
