There are different types of bolts that you can use in Emps, they determine the strength (and thus the max hit) of the ranged attack of a crossbow. The better the bolt, the more you'll be able to hit. Some bolts require a higher tier of crossbow to be used.

Bolts up to Runite can be made with the Smithing skill, and most bolts are sold in Lowe's ranging store.
