You will have to be patient on this issue. It may take some time until I really rework the music system, that's not something I'll do very soon. For now I can suggest that you make sure your audio drivers are updated and are able to play midis.

It could be that the midi mixer isn't working on your computer. Are you using the latest java version? The issue can probably only be fixed if I overhaul the client's music system since it's already really old!

Hey guys,

I've got a lot of bug fixes ready for today. I'm only mentioning the largest changes:
  • Barbarian agility course overhaul. Timing is better now and bugs have been fixed where you could get stuck.
  • Item pickup issue fixed. You're even able to pickup items that are 1 step away from you. That should fix all pickup issues in general.
  • Guardian Angel issue fixed. Everybody who's died yesterday has received a GA. That debugging option was disabled.
  • Ardougne castle stairs added. You can now climb to the top.
  • Ardougne windmill configured. You can now go up and down there.
  • You can no longer drop items on farming patches, so loot wont float into the air anymore.
  • EDIT: I've also added a 'Thank You' modification to the forum. It allows you to say thank you to forum posts.

Hey guys,

I've got plenty of updates and fixes ready. They're listed below:
  • Warrior guild animated armours reworked. You should no longer lose your armours when fighting them.
  • Teleport overhaul. I've updated teleport timers and animations. All in all it's going to look smoother. Moreover, teletab and lunar teleports have received new animations.
  • Death overhaul. I've updated the whole system. It has proper timers now and I've fixed where players could get stuck into a death loop ending up in not being able to finish their die procedure. They were forced to relog and didn't lose their items. That's especially annoying in pvp zones.
  • Goblin village north of Falador was populated
  • Evergreens can now be cut
  • Chaos gauntlets now give +5% Runecrafting xp.
  • Family gauntlets now give +5% Crafting xp. (Can be bought from Hickton in Rimmington)
  • Lumbridge castle is now accessible. You can climb to the very top. A banker was also placed there.
  • A client update is now prohibiting you from clicking objects that aren't on your current height. E.g. picking up barricades in Castle Wars while being on top floor.
  • Smelting iron now requires level 15 Smithing. Smelting steel now requires level 20 Smithing.
  • You've probably already noticed these forum changes: Forum overall is wider now. Forum avatars now have a size of 100x100 pixels.
  • New shoutbox smileys. Also usable in forum messages: :cake::doge::frankerz::batman:
  • Items that would disappear after 60 seconds now popup a destroy dialogue.
  • EDIT: Rimmington farming patch added. You can now plant trees there.

Hey guys,

I'm looking for some awesome screenshots that can be used for our front page's gallery. (http://emps-world.net/) If you have ideas how to make it look better, please also let me know it! I'm about to launch a big advertisement campaign so we should give new people a good first impression.

Please note that the screenshots should show actual game play and not valuable drops or stakes. (That's not interesting if you've never played emps before? ;)) Moreover it'd be good if you removed any private messages. You can achieve that by either turning pms off or toggle split private chat. There is also a handy command that clears your chat in case you don't want people to see that. ::clear

Also make sure that screenshots are 16:9 and fullscreen. All images on the front page's gallery have to share the same aspect ratio, else it'll look really weird. Preferably uncropped. Removing the task line is okay.

Hi,

I've changed a major part in the client's update and map rendering procedures. The aim of this update is to reduce loading times. (Please restart your client to see the new system in action!)

What has changed?
  • Map data downloads have priority over any other downloads. That allows us to immediately render the map, even when the objects on it aren't loaded yet. That means that new players can immediately start the game. They'll see the landscape popping up party by part. If you want to test this mechanism or just take a look at it, do the following: Close all your Emps-World clients and delete the cache folder. You can either delete it manually, or visit this link: http://emps-world.net/cleaner.php
  • White flickering for already loaded content shouldn't appear anymore. I suppose you know that annoying white screen when you enter a new region and it displays "Loading map - please wait...". The flickering should be gone for good if you've already visited that region before!
  • Overall map loading speed improved. Maps should loader quicker now. (Less loading times for you!)
  • Last but not least I've also fixed a bug where the client would ignore your mouse click. You should no longer have this issue!

Hi,

I'm making this thread to give a quick guide on how to fix errors with using the game client. If you can't get your client to work, feel free to post here or ask the community for help!

  • I can't see some models (players, monsters, items, etc.) in-game.
    Restart your client and/or reinstall the game: Reinstall Emps-World.

  • My client is stuck at loading the game.
    Reinstall the game: Reinstall Emps-World.

  • My client says "Error Connecting"
    Download the latest client here.

  • Client is acting weird. All text is white.
    Try out the 'Classic' mode, that should work fine!

  • The client is not starting at all.
    Please make sure you open Emps-World with java. If you cannot get it to work, try the web version here.

  • I get the following error:

Update Notes / Updates 26/10/2014 - Largest Update in History

Hi,

Today I'm proud to announce the largest update that we've ever had! :D I've got a lot of stuff ready... so sit back and read through it, there are a lot of things you may like. The update consists of 2 big parts and a small list of changes:
  • Combat Bonus System Rework
  • OpenGL Client
  • Game Changes


1. Combat Bonus System Rework

Why am I doing this? Well, lately I've tried to balance combat but it never really worked out. Range and Magic always had other bonus systems than melee had. The aim of this update is to unite the bonus system to one and the same. I'm also introducing an armour tier system. That means the higher the level requirement of your armour/weapon is the higher the bonus become. It's now easy to choose your armour. The higher the level requirement, the better it is! Basically all item bonuses have been changed, I'm not going to list them here, just try it out! :)

This new bonus system is also taking care of the combat triangle in form of defence bonuses:
Melee beats Ranged. Ranged beats Magic. Magic beats Melee.

Furthermore, I've changed the types of bonuses that exist. They are now divided into 3 categories, which exist for Melee, Ranged and Magic respectively:
  • Attack Bonuses
  • Defence Bonuses
  • Strength Bonuses

To give you a better impression of what I mean, here's a screenshot:


Your attack bonus increases your hit accuracy.
Your defence bonus increases the amount of blocked hits
Your strength bonus increases your max hit.

Stab, Slash and Crush bonuses were removed, they are now united in one Melee Bonus!


Ugh Why? This sucks? It's new, I hate it!

Yet this system is an attempt to fix the current combat mess. I'm presenting a system that is equal for all 3 combat styles. Making it easier for you to see how much damage you deal or how much defence bonus you have against your foes! The aim of it is also to end the melee era and make Range/Magic viable too. Let me suggest that you try this out for a week and give me your opinion on it afterwards.




2. OpenGL Client

Beta Users: Delete your client and download the new one ^

It's finally there! Some of you have already tested the beta but it's going live now. I've fixed all the issues that were listed on the forum and it should be fully usable now. The most important thing to mention is, that you won't be online for minutes anymore. The maximum account your account can be online, in case you disconnect, is 5 seconds. This is increased to 20 seconds inside the wilderness to avoid people from fleeing their deaths! (We've had a lot of reports on those) I'm now also ending the support for the webclient, it's been removed. Please don't worry about this, the desktop client will now run on any machines with Java installed, just like the webclient! (I've fixed it all)

Not much to say about the graphics, here it is:



What's Different?

This client is now utilizing your graphic card. Meaning that you have a much higher fps rate in general. (fps = frames per second) In the end it also allows us to work on nice, new updates. Such as shadows, particle effects, etc... I hope that I can present you some of these in the near future! :)


Ugly new Client!

You ugly little...! Don't worry, you can load up the old client by just pressing 's' while the Loader is starting: (I was just kidding, if you prefer the old client, feel free to use it!)

3. Game Changes:
  • Slayer helm has lost its melee stats. Now gives +10% damage boost on task monsters.
  • GWD minions are now all clippable by bosses. You can no longer safespot the bosses by their minions. Their melee max hits have also been reduced to 30. Same counts for smoke demon champion.
  • Duel arena now has decent viewing spots. (The top floor level is now completely walkable) Furthermore, leaning works there too.
  • Ancient ice spells now bind your enemies for 3, 5, 8 and 10 seconds. They are supposed to be damage spells, not binding spells. On the other hand, magic protection no longer reduces the duration of binds!
  • Your last joined clan chat is now being saved.
  • Seercull and dragon arrows have been changed to level 70 Ranged.
  • Ring of Stone is now a combination of berserker, archer and seers ring.
  • Skulgrimen has run out of fremennik helms. He's no longer selling any. (They are now only obtainable through pest control)
  • Drop rate of seercull and climbing boots has been reduced, however, uncut onyx drop rate has been increased on mutant tarns.
  • Amount of slayer points gained was lowered by a lot.




EDIT: Since some of you were having troubles with the client or still have, I've enabled double XP and free member for today. Moreover, we won't have any double XPs during November. Idk yet about December! :)
