The shield does feel a little strong /out of place.  Especially considering the drop rate (rare- 1.5%), the monster that drops it, and the number of charges.

DFS is +11 Melee / ~50 for defense
D Defender is +20 Melee / 0 def
Crystal is 105+ def.

Im not sure the stat is the issue as all the shields have a similar balance between offense and defensive stats.

I think that a reduction is charges and possibly an increase to the recharge cost might help the balance issue.
5k charges = 225k gp  (according to wiki).

This is incorrect.  Smelting requires the same level as smithing the bar.

Also should mention golden mining equipment as it gives % bonus to mining & smithing.

Was there a change to the GE mechanics since feb, 2016?

The GE guide (below) states that the cheapest offering will be bought.

If you look at the 15 day history in the GE tracker it is supposed  to show all transactions.

I've had mantas in the GE for 4k for a couple days and noticed the sale for 5k.

Is this a bug or just misunderstood mechanics?

I was assigned a daily task for Advanced Barbarian Course (requires 90 agility) which is beyond my current skill of 70.   Checked the regular barbarian course and it did not give credit.

Personally part of my nostalgia for RS was completing quests and exploring the lore (gods, barrows, exploration of 3rd age, etc )  there are some great stories built around this game. Plus the quest requirements for certain gear added a sense of progression and achievement when complete.

I'm willing to help with writing the quests - my coding is really rusty though.

Just to throw it out there...  as an "old player"  a simple e-mail or promotion (10 days member) to all in-active registered users would be more effective than free loot.

Ive been back less than a week, it been fun trying to rebuild my bank.  People don't come or stay for free crap they do because of the community or the game experience.
