What is better ?

Crossbows with diamond (e) bolts are, in my opinion, better against bosses and other monster with very high defence. Bows are better for casual training and fighting regular monsters.

Crossbows are one-handed so you'll have a shield spot free and bows are 2-handed so no shield spot, crossbows are slower then bows so it depends on the activity you're doing.

For training I suggest using bows and for hard bossing I suggest crossbows.

You can't really say which one is better because they both have their positives and negatives.

Normal bows are better when you can safespot bosses as well, like with jad.

Crossbows are quite good when you need the shield or the extra defence, like when you range dragons or you do pk-ing

Diamond bolts hit much more often on bosses like Kree'arra, though.

I prefer normal bows with d arrows.

I always prefer bows over crossbows, because they're faster and hit almost as hard as crossbows.

against bosses cross bow beat any normal bow... u can get (10) poison and lower def with bolts and 3rd or divine shield gives huge def bonuses

I especially prefer Godbows, mainly because I got owned by a level 87 in the duel arena with one.

Spec ignores defence.

Zamorak or Saradomin bow is best for both Training and Boss killing. They're fast and powerful, you can also bring a Seercull with Poisoned dragon arrows and use the bow's special attack to lower the monsters' 10% attack, strength and defence + poison.

If you're looking for soloing a boss, Hunters' crossbow with diamond bolts and with a shield (dragonfire/divine spirit shield) is useful as you won't eat as much often when using a bow, because a bow is 2 handed and doesn't let you wear a shield.
