Iron ore can be mined from Iron rocks spread across the world, you can find an abundance of Iron ore in places like the Al-Kharid Desert in the mines south of the city itself, or in the Falador Mining guild, and in the mines located just outside of the city of Varrock.
Iron ore is one of the resources required to create Iron and Steel bars.
There is also a fraction of a chance to burn the ore when smelting in a furnace if creating Iron bars, to counter this; having a higher Smithing level than required to smelt will prevent the player in having this occur.
