Pure essence can be used to craft runes, granting Runecrafting experience. They count as double the amount of rune essence when crafting runes. For example at level 99 runecrafting: crafting 1 rune essence at the blood altar gives 5 blood runes, whereas crafting 1 pure essence gives 10 blood runes. Keep in mind that you can't store pure essence in pouches like you do with rune essences.
