I have an idea. How about crossbows being made by skilling? Like you need to smith crossbow limbs and add them to crossbow stock.

The wooden part would be made with fletching, this could all work nicely.

This would be interesting.
So the bowstring for a crossbow would be fletched with a normal bowstring?

Also, would the stock be cut from a normal tree, or would you need to get higher-tiered limbs for higher-tiered crossbows? (EG normal crossbow=normal logs, iron crossbow=Oak Logs, Steel crossbow=Maple logs) or something, or would the stock be all-around, and you would just have to smith a metal onto it like 4 iron ores or 4 blurite ores or 5 rune ores or something?

Perhaps for not ruining economy to fletch like you said. And it should be smithed from 2 bars because 2 limbs and you also dont need to string it.

Isn't crossbow string fletched out of yak hair in RS? I can't remember

A Crossbow string is used in the Fletching skill to create crossbows. It is created by using sinew or tree roots (except Magic roots) with a spinning wheel,

Sinew can be used on a spinning wheel by a member with 10 Crafting to create crossbow string, granting 15 Crafting experience. It is created through the Cooking skill, by using a piece of raw beef or bear meat with a range and choosing to make sinew, granting 3 cooking experience.
