Something very important that I will point out is that we will work with the winning designer to perfect his/her banner, so don't be too concerned over little details -- at this stage, what matters is how it looks, as we can always change things like the text.

You could just do "Example Text" if you want, but if it's a gif, going back to edit every frame to fix all of that text would be tedious.


@Ozzy, very nice entry!  Have you tried giving the buttons a smoother fade in/out effect?

I had a different version at first but sadly the file size was 280KB and the maximum for this was 150KB(?) - I was looking around on the top sites and the side banner (like the one created above) was around the size of 910KB, therefore I'm not sure if the 150KB was a mistake?

It being limited to only 150KB has had me confused, also.  My example banner is 2421KB.

Also, your other version is exactly what I meant.

I'll definitely check if Thomy made a typo.

EDIT:  Confirmed that it is 150KB because that's Google's limit.  One way to get the file size down is by compressing the image(s) to JPG.
