I said that I would explain things this week, so here you go:
How do you get the GFX rank?
You get the GFX rank by achieving the minimum of 3000 SOTW points as well as achieving a base score of 285+ on two or more signatures. Alternatively, when the opportunity arises, there will be contests hosted for designers to create artwork specifically for Emps-World; the winners of these contests will be awarded the GFX rank.
Is the rank permanent?
The rank may or may not be stripped from designers for multiple reasons that include but are not limited to the designer's forum conduct and level of activity as a designer. These rules are, by no means, strict; however, designers with the rank represent the GFX community, so we would expect them to treat others with friendly intent as well as actively make signatures and enter SOTW.
How are points awarded to winners?
Winners' points are determined by the following system: "We take the difference between the winner’s score and the maximum score (400) and subtract that value from the winner’s score to determine the winner's quality bonus; this bonus is then added to the winner's original base score, followed by the 75-point winning bonus." A winner with a score of 300 will get a quality bonus of 200 and a winning bonus of 75, whereas a winner with a score of 200 will get no quality bonus but will get a winning bonus of 75. This isolates the great from the average -- you earn your points.
How are points awarded to runners-up?
The score of each runner up is directly transferred to their points. A runner up with a score of 250 gets 250 points.
Do you get points just for entering?
At the moment, no. We have considered it, and it may be a future possibility.
Where can we see the scores of each designer?
We are planning to add a leaderboard that will likely include the top 3 designers. In the meantime, just ask a judge.
If designers want feedback or an explanation behind their score, how do they get it?
Contact a judge or leave a comment on the currently active SOTW topic. We are more than happy to explain ourselves and provide feedback.
