If you'd paid any attention to the playercount recently compared to a month or two back you'd realize that there's been an increase. Quite a significant one at that.

Yeah these item clues aren't great. Then again, neither are scans. I wouldn't mind just replacing the item clues for these, but I do have a solution in mind that should prevent a lot of frustration all around.

"Skip tickets" would be obtainable from clue scrolls of all tiers. Using them on a clue would skip one step of that clue. They should be untradable, but not too rare to get (1 in 5 clues is what I'd have in mind). It would allow people to either work around steps they can't do or get people that do a lot of clues to save a bunch of time.

I think clues' biggest problem is monotony, scans will take up the vast majority of your time and they're not entirely fun. Adding a bit more variety wouldn't hurt. Riddles to find a digging location or object you have to search could make for something decent.

New potions were one of the options for an update a while back for this year but people seemed to really dislike overloads due to its reputation. Here's my version and suggestion of what they could be like in Emps-World. Along with overloads extreme potions should be introduced as well. Both extremes and overload would be untradeable but the new ingredients could be tradeable. They are very strong potions and training your herblore all the way up to 99 should feel rewarding. My suggestion/version of them also takes into account for overloads not to "ruin" saradomin and zamorak brews while still providing their own advantages.

Prayer renewal potion restores your prayer overtime (For 3 minutes maybe?) but it does not restore any prayer potions when drank. So basically it just slows down your prayer drain rate when you're using prayers. This potion should be tradeable.

Overload and extreme potions:

First up the recipes and their effects:

+ = (super attack 3-dose + clean avantoe)
+ = (super strength 3-dose + clean dwarf weed)
+ = (super defense 3-dose + clean lantadyme)
+ = (super magic 3-dose + ground mud rune)
+ = (super ranging 3-dose + grenwall spikes x5)
+ + + + + = (clean torstol + extreme attack + -, strength + -, defense + -, magic + -, ranging 3-dose = overload

As you can see there are two completely new items which are ground mud rune and grenwall spikes. Ground mud runes could be obtained by using pestle and mortar to mud rune. (No level requirements)
Grenwall spikes could be obtained from grenwals, a new hunter creature with high level requirement.
Required level would be 88 and grants around 1850 experience perhaps? Would be less XP than black salamanders which are in wildy and you'll risk a death being there. Caught with box traps. Location could be somewhere in Karamja?

Currently super potions boosts your level to 118 from 99. Extremes should boost your levels to 120 and work the same way as super potions. (Decreases overtime, can be drained etc...)

Overload on the other hand should boost all your combat stats to 122 which is again 2 higher from extremes. This is where they also differ from them; you'll have a timer for that (3 - 5 minutes?), your boosted stats wont decrease overtime. They can be drained by drinking a saradomin brew for example but they would go back to their boosted state in 15 seconds. (Drinking super restore would do this instantly)
Reason behind your stats still being able to be drained is that they should not replace regular food (sharks, manta ray etc...) with just brews because if they're not drained you'd be able to drink just brews to heal yourself. And you would still have some penalty for using brews.

Herblore level requirement to make these potions would be: 89 - 91 - 93 - 95 -  97 - 99 (order being - extreme attack - strength - defense - magic - ranging - overload)

Prayer renewal potion:

Recipe:

+ = (clean fellstalk + vial of water = fellstalk potion (unf))
+ = (fellstalk (unf) + morchella mushroom = prayer renewal (3)

As previously; you see three new things in there which are the fellstalk herb (and the unfinished potion made out of it) and morchella mushroom.

Morchella mushroom could be a new high level herblore secondary that can be farmed by planting morchella mushroom spores. (Same way as limpwurt root seeds)
Could require quite high farming level to plant; 90 maybe? Both mushrooms and the spore are tradeable though. Spores could be dropped by high level monsters such as dark beasts, mutated tarns, goraks etc...

Fellstalk seeds would require rather high farming level to plant as well; 92 maybe? These seeds and herbs are both tradeable and they could be dropped by some bosses like smoke demon champion and chaos elemental and by some high level monsters such as goraks, dark beasts, ice strykewyrms and mutated tarns. (Remove willow and maple seeds from tarns and replace with fellstalk seeds and herbs plus morchella mushroom spore)

To make the potion you would require a herblore level of 92 which is a high level but then again you should be rewarded for having a high herblore skill level.

Thoughts? Suggestions on their recipes? Boosts they would give? Anything?

nice work Thomy ,but I'm sorry to say that all of these new updates since you've added ancient armours the server has been "dying" slowly.
there's only one way to keep the server a little bit alive ,which is to keep adding items and new stuff but that also ruins the server ,idk how to explain ,but nice updates anyway.

Honestly it doesn't look all that bad, but that's where the positives stop for me.

I still wouldn't want it. We would have a content drought for however long it takes to develop. It might solve some of the server's problems, but it wouldn't take very long for people to get to the point where they've got nothing to do again. It would still split the playerbase and both worlds would kind of hurt eachother in that regard. I would much rather see the development time be put into actual content and or fixing existing content.
The content is in drought already, player attractive content atleast.

People wanna play games for the sake of challenge and with a goal of being better than others. Skilling/pvming doesn't offer that, it might be a challenge to some extent, but it's just who is willing to devote all that time to get the drop/99 or xp goal (dno where that came, beyond retarded).

People wanna go head to head, this way you can actually outplay others and show some actual SKILL. Yes, RNG is a big part of this, but thats the key, you never know whats coming. Why are games like LoL and CSGO so popular? You can destory other players and show them who is the boss, no one cares how much time you wasted to get a 250m in skill or a pet or a certain drop???

And then there is staking, from my point of view, staking is a tool to achieve end game content sooner, without the grind. You can make a f... ton a money in a short period of time (yes, you can lose it aswell), but with that money you have the ability to actually enjoy for example high risk pking, without the worry of losing your bank, you grinded for hours if you didn't stake. Why people play loto and go gambling? Everyone likes nice stuff and being able to do shit they like, thats what staking offers.

So where I'm going with that, there has to be a more fun way of being able to obtain items you want/end game content. Doing it through grinding is not an answer nowadays, people are just lazier.

This update seems so out of place.

Yes, you have been away for whatever reasons and you lost your motivation (I would react the same way, if I had a server that was successful for years before).

However I do not understand why you still keep focusing on so much useless content. Yes, it does sound harsh, but unlike most of the players I say what I think and if you do not want you want to hear it, just ignore it and keep going the way you always did, which led us to where we are right now. Honestly, I do not see any chance for emps to recover, if you do not change your mindset.


1. Graphics:
How far do you intend to go and why are you doing this in the first place when you only got a handful supporters who appreciate it. Yes, you are the owner and you can do whatever you like. If you do not care about your players aka your customers and intend to give them what you want and not what they ask for, then you shouldn't be complaining about the decrease in popularity of this game either.

2. Nex:
This update shouldnt even be released in 2017 because of all the shit content we have that needs to get cleaned up first.

3. Referrals:
This sounds great, but knowing you I already know this update will be limited to just "sounding" great.

4. Achievements:
Another one of those "nice features to have" updates. Nothing wrong with it unless you see it as your main project, which you really shouldn't in your current situation.




You do have time to make urgent changes now. If you waste it on "nice features" or better graphics...Well, nevermind. We all probably know the outcome already.

Why keep developing in that way when it hasn't been successful? When I make the decsision to play RSPS, I ultimately want an easier version of 07, because I wanna have fun, but I don't want to grindgrindgrindgrindgrind to be able to have that fun, which, in the end, is pking (and I firmly belive that pking is the key of an RSPS, if people wanna get maxed out accounts, then why not go to 07, since the skills here are said to be easy anyway?).

I truly belive if something was done regarding pking (make it come to life again), then a lot of players would make their return, speaking on behalf of myself and many friends I made from this game, back in the day.

These are minor things that really don't bother be, whats more frustraing is the past.

Veracs ignored protection prayer 100% time, 10% chance to ignore defence
Ahrim set allowed you to barrage 55s
Karil allowed you to freeze your enemy and hit close to 50s
Javelins were overpowered for months before they were nerfed, also guthan allowed you to camp spectrals for unlimited time so there was no shortage of javs
corrupt set made it so pure scene was dominated by people with corrupt sets
Freeze timers were completely shit for a period of time + deep wild had ez escapes everywhere
And we still have crystal shield ingame at the moment

Imo the only way pk is going to be active again is when this server finds a sudden influx of new players who accept the server as it is. There's for certain no new pkers coming in and as past has shown there are plenty of updates to come that thrive people away from pking even more.

And when it comes to RSPS PKing in general, people are looking for spawn servers to practice PKing for OSRS without having to risk their bank doing so.

Ok lets disable trading completely and give everything a static price and put every single major item to a store. People can now sell their items to a store for a huge amount of money and buy for the same price they sold it there. That's what they want, right? No, that would he absolutely horrendous. Second option would be to make every single piece of gear degrade into dust and that would kill the fun aspect completely.

Messing with the economy and trying to force things is not good. This is how the economy works in this kind of games, there's eventually going to be an overflow of item(s).

The game could just be made more dangerous, a lot more dangerous. I mean really dangerous to the point that people start considering using metal armor to not risk losing items.

Cons:
  • People lose their items.

Pros:
  • People lose their items.

The pros outweigh the cons, because having items isn't actually making the game any fun, whereas players having more control over how successful they are could be more fun.

Thanks for this topic. I've been thinking of an armour rework for quite a while. I would suggest that we lower weakness bonuses by 50%. I've added a screenshot of how the change would look like. Thoughts?



This won't have any impact on damage soaking, but offers a real weakness in PvP situations. This would also impact fights where monsters use multiple combat styles.
