Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Mechanic ideas for hard mode KBD
« on: June 12, 2019, 11:05:27 am »
Is it an upgrade for current KBD or like new one in new place? If it's an upgrade then I would be against it. It's one of few bosses that could be killed by poor players. From KBD u can actually make quite good money which is good for start before you go to GWD/Group bosses.
Probably the most common misunderstanding what people seem to have is that hard mode replaces the original boss which is not the case. Original boss is not going anywhere hence the 'mode' wording.
Hard mode variant is the exact same boss with different and harder mechanics and different drop table.

Suggestions & Ideas / Mechanic ideas for hard mode KBD
« on: June 11, 2019, 10:18:55 am »
With the recent talk about hard mode bosses and introduction of tank armors for team play I came up with some mechanics for potentially hard mode KBD.
This topic will only focus on mechanics. These mechanics are focused for 4 players.

General mechanics that last for the whole fight
  • Stack system - Each hit you receive also gives you a stack. More stacks you have, more damage you take. Stacks will reset after not taking damage for 30 seconds.
  • Dragonfire attack - KBD will always attack the player who is the furthest away with firebreath. These attacks will give you stacks.
  • Melee attack - KBD will attack the player its focused to with melee. These attacks will give you stacks.
Ideal way to deal with the stacks would be to have another player to tank until the actual tanks stacks are gone.
What this also means is that the person standing in between firebreath tank and melee tank is not taking any damage nor the second player in melee distance.

As a firebreath tank you'd switch spots with the person standing in front of you not to get any damage and get rid of your stacks. And then switch back.
As a second player in melee distance you would have to taunt KBD off the main melee tank so he doesn't take any damage and he can reset his stacks.

First phase: (100% HP)
This phase will have nothing special in it.

Second phase: (75% HP)
At this point KBD will start occasionally throwing firebreath attacks that will make you bleed. This attack can be dodged by simply moving.
Once it lands it will make an area and if you step on it it will give you a strong bleed.

Third phase: (50% HP)
KBD will spawn 3 (green brutal, mithril?) dragons which ideally must be killed about the same time. Killing one will cause the rest ones to deal double or even triple damage.
To deal with this mechanic you'd have to coordinate a bit and kill the dragons about the same time not to take too much damage. These dragons will not have any effect on KBDs stacks.

Fourth phase: 25% -> dead)
Fourh phase everyone on the team will get a fire spot under them. If you don't move you'll start taking damage.
Once you move this trail will last for 10 squares meaning to get rid of it you'll have to move 10 squares. Stepping on other players spot will make you get damage.

These mechanics are designed not only for 4 players but also heavily focuses around teamwork.

Thoughts?

General Discussion / Re: Turnover Rate on the Staff Team
« on: June 06, 2019, 05:13:00 pm »
I am not sure if what I am about to say has been said here or not, as I've read it few weeks ago and didn't reply back then until Saif brought it back up to my attention.

As a person who spent a lot of times being part of the staff team, I've seen a lot of players leaving for few reasons, one of them that we had to deal with recently is players leaving because of their team mates got promoted before them.
People should keep in mind that the amount of staff members in each position is very limited due to our current low playerbase or staff member being able to fulfil its duties, yet some players expect to get promoted faster than others ( Can't blame them if they're working hard enough for it, its their right) or lets just say position X is full, however player from position Y has got enough and wanted to get promoted which results on fights and him leaving.

as you / someone else in this thread has said already, the amount of players resigning becomes lower, the higher the rank gets so it pretty much brings us back to the same point.

at some point during me being a staff member few years ago, I always had the feeling of I quote " what are we, a team? No. We're a chemical mixture that makes chaos. We're... we're a time-bomb " . This has been said 7 years ago in Avengers film just incase someone is wondering.

Feedback / Re: Strung Rabbit Foot, Agile Set & Others
« on: May 17, 2019, 08:11:07 am »
Strung Rabbit Foot:
I totally agree with you, especially for iron-men 95 crafting is way too high.

Agile Set:
I agree with this too, giving some agility bonus would be great.
NOTE: about unlimited run for members, they told me it got removed because of the wildy system, I suggest to enable it for none-wildy area only, same as hits and other wildy system that only works in wildy..

Brimhaven Rewards:
yes most of the rewards there are cosmetic items only, xp lamps would be nice.

Thieving Additions?
I suggest to make Investigator's set same as Agile set but gives thieving xp bonus.

Feedback / Strung Rabbit Foot, Agile Set & Others
« on: May 17, 2019, 07:43:09 am »
More random feedback that I posted in Discord. Most of these were buried as well so I made another thread.

Strung Rabbit Foot:
Currently the only item in-game that provides any sort of bonus to thieving, the strung rabbit foot has a really ridiculous crafting requirement making it quite a pain to get. Considering how easy it is already to get a rabbit foot, it makes this thing have an unnecessary grind IMO. While the amulet does have other uses in other skills giving it more value, I could see bumping down the steep crafting level requirement a bit to make it more feasible for most players to get. 80-85 crafting seems more fair compared to the current 95.

If some of the other changes I bring up occur, then this requirement change could be ignored. But as of now, being the only useful item for thieving and agility(?) with such a steep crafting requirement is just tedious.

Agile Set:
This set is rather upsetting in its current state. The -10kg weight it provides isn't even distributed properly (possible bug?), making the legs the only useful part of the set. And it doesn't really have much more use aside from that. Now that we no longer have unlimited run energy as members, it has definitely gotten some more use, but the set is still lacking IMO, as it pretty much is the only good item you can get from actually doing the Brimhaven agility course.

Some tweaks that we've brainstormed/discussed:
-Split the weight reduction evenly between both pieces or give the top -10kg as well
-Give the set a bonus for agility and, preferably, thieving as well; increased success chances on completing an obstacle or successfully pickpocketing would be really beneficial
-Slight xp boost from agility could be useful as well; giving the set an additional +5% xp split between both pieces would be a nice bonus
-No damage from failing obstacles: this would be nice for lower levels
-Extra tickets from the dispensers?

Brimhaven Rewards:
Speaking of Brimhaven, the rewards at the moment aren't really that exciting either. There are, at most, 2 useful items in the shop you'd want to grab currently: the agile legs and the black cavalier for clue scrolls, totaling up to only 444 tickets. Everything else is a useless cosmetic, and while cosmetics are nice, there isn't much purpose going past the 444 tickets to get more rewards currently. Other reward exchanges have been getting some nice updates, so I think this shop could use one as well.

Some possible additions:
-Agility xp lamps
-Something that increases agility/thieving success rates (should agile set NOT be updated with those changes)
-Something that booses agility/thieving xp (should agile set NOT be updated with those changes)
-??? Something else, I'm not sure what though

Adding in more ways to be rewarded with xp would be nice, as the mid-level grind of agility is atrocious as you're pretty limited in your choices. The addition of xp lamps, or possibly, a way to turn your tickets in for xp could help with this grind, as JP put it in discord:
Quote from: JP
levels 40 - 75/80 or so
you only do 1 obstacle for xp during those lvls right now
would give u a reason to do full arena

Thieving Additions?
Thieving has been in sort of a content drought for awhile it feels like... We really haven't gotten much for it recently. Since most herblore changes would be tied in with thieving due to Master Farmers, it was a shame that it wasn't the case with Fellstalk seeds/Morchella Mushroom spores, correct me if I'm wrong. Major thieving additions have been discussed before that I recall - Pyramid Plunder was brought up a couple times - but I don't even think we need something that major to be added to just give thieving some fresh air. New NPCs/Stalls to steal from could be nice, alongside some new items related to the skill that improve the xp/success rates as I mentioned earlier. Just to make the skill a bit more exciting.

If I'm missing a specific updating for it let me know, because I can't really recall any recent updates for the skill in a long time.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: brawling gloves
« on: May 15, 2019, 05:48:20 pm »
Imo 51 tickets is more than fine for 750 charges. You can duo farm Emps-wars with alts ~300 tickets/hour with dbxp, which is 5-6 brawlings gloves and on most skills one brawling glove will last for about an hour, and that's 5-6 hours of boosted xp for one hour job.
