Resolved Bug Reports / Re: Slow Motion bug
« on: January 16, 2015, 05:33:04 pm »
After testing for a quite a while yesterday with the newer client I was unable to reproduce the issue. The main thing I tried was dropping a bunch of random items on the ground and seeing what the effect was. In the video posted by Lars, he seems to run slow after picking up items from a kill in the wilderness,  and in the old client I was able to reproduce it when picking flax (ie. Picking up items). I noticed a little bit of slowness for the first couple seconds, but it seemed to go away rather quickly and was relatively unnoticeable.

On a separate note, I did experience a little bit of slowness when screen sharing via skype. My fps remained around 50 the entire time. When I stopped sharing, it all worked fine. Maybe some video software interferes somewhere?

On a third and final note, I've noticed slowness when my internet connection is slow. My fps remains the same, but my speed drops down to 1 mbps. When it goes back up to around 15 to 20 mbps the issue goes away.

Resolved Bug Reports / Slow Motion bug

I am starting this post in order to respond to a question that was asked to me in another post that was moved to bug reports so I can no longer respond to it. The link to that post is below.

http://emps-world.net/forum/index.php?topic=5579.0

I can test this, but I'm at work. I wont be able to until around 5:00 pm CST. I believe I was using the classic version, so tonight I'll use the newer client and see if I can recreate it. If not, I'll exclusively use the new client to try to find another way to recreate the issue and post my findings here.

Thanks,
Cody

Resolved Bug Reports / Re: Slowmotion running

I've noticed this issue show up in multiple places, but the one way that I could recreate it easily was simply picking flax in Catherby. I was watching my fps and it never raised above 50. In fact it sort of idled at 50 the entire time.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Forum Cleanup Process
« on: January 15, 2015, 12:00:17 am »
Every week there are a lot of topics created, it would take quite some time every few weeks to delete those topics..

This is why I suggested that there be a process put in place. Instead of manually deleting every post, have a batch process that runs every so often that will remove old topics. However, this may not be possible if the forum isnt directly hosted on a local server.
What about old posts/Topics that are not wanted to be deleted, guides etc.

The batch file could be set up to only target specific boards. It could also be set up to ignore certain topics, for example anything started by an Admin or anything that hasn't been answered.

Suggestions & Ideas / Forum Cleanup Process
« on: January 13, 2015, 11:55:11 pm »
Hey guys,

I think there should be some sort of process in place that will automatically clean up old forum posts. Today I was browsing the forums and came across a couple of questions that I could answer in the computers section. Both of these posts were on the very first page of the topic, so I didn't think to look at the date posted before answering them. A little while later I received a warning telling me not to respond to old forum posts ("digging"). I believe these types of posts should be cleaned up. I personally do not understand why it's against the rules to answer a question that had gone without an answer for 2 months, but if it is against the rules, it should be prevented from happening in the first place.

Thanks,
Cody

Computers and Technology / Re: App Development for two Platforms.

I've had this same problem and have also heard Ruby on Rails and phone gap. Another suggestion would be to use html 5. There isn't really an easy way to do this without learning a new language of some sort.

Try checking out this site: https://www.udemy.com/blog/cross-platform-mobile-development/

What kind of things do you like? I know when I was in school we wrote windows forms programs to do simple tasks like creating a shipping label,  calculators, etc. Also at one point my cousin and I had a rs private server that was a hassle to create new items in so I wrote a program in vb that would actually generate most of the java code I needed in order to add new items to the game database.

Resolved Bug Reports / Losing armor in the Warrior Guild animator.
« on: January 11, 2015, 03:34:20 am »
If you put a set of armor in an animator, it comes to life and starts attacking you. If you put another set of armor into the other animator without killing it, it accepts the armor but no monster shows up. Probably just need to check if a monster is already spawned, if so don't accept the armor.

I did this twice to make sure I could recreate it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Cody
