Scan clues are only problematic in wilderness. The city ones etc are actually quite enjoyable.

Reporter007, the map wouldn't help, since there are way too many spots

Boohoo there's a single type of step in clues that actually require some effort to complete.
Even with methodical roaming, it's completely based on dumb luck. There's a fine line between effort and waste of time caused by the unefficient scan mechanic.
From a design standpoint, I feel that with every step of a clue scroll you should know if you're making progress or not.

Hello guys,

Halloween Event - Kolodion
You may have been wondering... what has Kolodion been doing all this time? He's been hiding in the wilderness and is finally ready to come back! I'm introducing a new kind of bossing system and would like to know and see if you guys enjoy that or not. Kolodion will spawn at a random location in the wilderness every 30 minutes. You can ask the Wilderness guide in Edgeville about Kolodion's current spawn status and location. Kolodion is using a new drop system. Everybody participating in the fight against him will get a drop. The only restriction to that is, that you need to hit at least 10 on him. So this means, that you can kill him with as many friends as you like, everybody will get a drop. The drop tables are especially good, because the event takes place in the wilderness and the boss can only be killed once every 30 minutes! Also... you can fight for the loot from others! ;)

Halloween Event - Grim Reaper
On top of that, the Grim Reaper has arrived again! He wants you to slay npcs in order to obtain Skulls. These Skulls can then be exchanged for rewards. The reward pool includes the raven pet from last year's event. You can also find the very rare drops from Kolodion in it: Mini Kolodion pet, Spider wings and a Pumpkin lantern. All these items will remain as super rare drops from Kolodion after the Halloween event ends.


Guardian Angels
Due to the feedback on the forums, I've decided to increase their price. I don't want to completely remove these items, because I do like the concept. The internet sometimes yields disconnects and lags. It'd be a shame if people lose items to such unforeseeable events. The price of a GA is now 1000EC. I know this is a big increase of its price, but in the long run it will make the item rarer and thus less used. New accounts still start with an active GA.

Following things have been updated:
  • Further progress on the clue scroll system. This can't be seen, but I thought it's worth mentioning.
  • New world boss mechanic added: bosses spawning at certain locations for a certain amount of time. Kolodion uses that mechanic. I could imagine re-using that system in the future to place evil trees or stuff like that in the world. Something similar to shooting star. Activities that take place on special times.
  • A bug was fixed where experiences gained in the Herblore skill showed too many bonus xp.
  • The game loader has slightly been reworked. The Emps-World.exe program can now be pinned to the windows taskbar. If you wish to do so, please download the new windows client here: https://emps-world.net/play. The loader's internal starting code was hardened and shouldn't be causing troubles on certain computers anymore.
  • Membership information updated.
  • Maploader timeout increased. Some people were claiming that areas didn't load properly. I'm not 100% sure what causes this, but I assume it happens in environments with low fps rates. It should be better with this update.

Been pretty busy lately, so there isn't much progress with clue scrolls. They will be the next big update though. :)

Passwords are safely encrypted with bcrypt (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bcrypt). The reason why 'only' some accounts were hacked, is because of perfect security in our database. The attackers were only able to steal some passwords by injecting malicious software at the code where you login. This part of the code still contains your password (that is safely sent and encrypted over HTTPS). Protecting yourself from attacks where the attacker has access to the actual code is actually pretty much impossible. The security breaches have been fixed though.

Introductions & Farewells / Goodbye

A goodbye is not a goodbye without posting it here I guess,

Nearing 9 years of undevoted attention to this server and seeing it changed over the years has shaped me the way I am and the way I will spend my future. I will carry these experiences with me for the rest of my life.
So I would like to say farewell to all my Emps users, you will not see me again. I hope you will continue to enjoy the features I brought to you and the way I dealt with your requests.
Make sure your voice will stay heard and supported until it makes it into the game.

Update Notes / Updates - August 27th 2016 - Dagannoth Kings

Hey guys,

Welcome to a new, but familiar old-style dungeon and boss experience!


The dagannoth cave has been expanded; Whilst the people of Rellekka have been searching to expand their revenues by means of a touristic boat tour to Waterbirth island, dagannoth infestations have manifested further in the depths!

Under Waterbirth island you can find our old dagannoth dungeon, with expansions deeper within, including the fabled Dagannoth kings. Dagannoth Supreme, Prime and Rex represent the combat triangle, and can only be faced together as a trio in a multiplayer zone.
Each Dagannoth king has it's own attack style and resistance against one of the combat styles.

On par with their attack style, they all drop 1 or more of the scrolls required to upgrade the Fremennik rings: Warrior, Berserker, Archers' and Seers'. These ancient scrolls will imbue the rings with more power, but can only contain this power for so long until the ring falls apart.

Relevant to this update are the following changes:
  • A warrior jumped ahead into the tourist business of Rellekka: he will give you a tour to Waterbirth island from Rellekka docks.
  • Rellekka chief has sent out a squad to Waterbirth island and it's vincinities, but the group hasn't been heard from since. Bardur is currently looking for them on Waterbirth island and could use your help finding their remains. He has some rewards that might be attractive to prolong your stay or make off the island with extra loot.
  • Dagannoth cave has new inhabitants (besides the Kings): Rock lobsters.
  • Rock lobsters drop Fremmenik helms, blades and shields left by Fremennik warriors.
  • Dagannoth bones prayer xp reward slightly buffed.
  • The ghost captain in the Wilderness has relocated his teleport location to the top of Waterbirth island. Although it is still a shorter walk to the dagannoth cave than the direct Lunar spell, it offers a dangerous but quicker and cheaper road compared to the Rellekka tour. The lunar spell is still the fastest way to reach the caves.
  • The Avatar that informed players about the third age armours has left the Dagannoth dungeon.

Changes and bugfixes:
  • Since there have been a lot of bug reports on items lost on death, I've added an items lost on death timer. When you die, you'll see a timer of 2 minutes showing how long your items will be visible on the ground. Please bear in mind that people are able to pickup your items after 1 minute, so there is no guarantee that your items will be on the ground if you reach them after one minute.
  • Al kharid sailor now has an option to directly travel to neitiznot.
  • Duradel will now assign a maximum of 25 spectrals per task.
  • For the following slayer tasks you receive 20% extra slayer xp: Revenants, Spectrals, Tormented demons, any boss, Gladiators, Abyssal watchers, Ice demons.
  • Spawns reduced for Gladiators, Abyssal watchers, Ice demons and Hellhounds in the Ancient caves.
  • Ironman accounts can no longer accept aid from other players.
  • Abyssal cannon buffed, its attack speed is 1 tick (0.5s) faster.
  • Korasi's sword and obsidian claws have been buffed. Their special attacks were made more accurate. Moreover, obsidian claws gain attack distance when the special attack is enabled.
  • GWD bosses defence level equalized. Certain GWD bosses were just tankier than others (especially bandos). I've equalized their defence levels down to 220. That's a minor nerf to their defence power.
  • Ruby (e) bolts were not actually damaging you, but the enemy since the new hit splashes update. This has been fixed. Also, the ruby (e) special effect will now only trigger if you hit more than 0.
  • Experimental command for puzzle boxes added. You can type ::clue to open a puzzle box. This will later be implemented into clue scrolls and is just there for testing purposes right now.
  • Drop chances for rare items in the ancient caves increased.
  • Drop chances of obsidian claws increased.

Hey guys,

I've got quite a lot of things ready for today. So let's start... :)

Obsidian Terror
I'm proud to present you our first quest that is fully scripted! I've intensively been working on our scripting engine, which will allow us to deliver quest content much faster in the future. You can start the quest by talking to TzHaar, who can be found in the eastern part of the obsidan caves. It's marked with a quest icon on the minimap.

Obsidian Terror contains a bit of everything. You'll explore unknown caves on your own and will be rewarded with access to a new area that contains new monsters to be slain! There's also a new unique item drop, which you can see on the screenshot above.

Following things have been updated:
  • Chronozon now has a rare hell kitten drop
  • The Karamja Agility Arena has received a new ticket gain system. You now no longer share the arrow of your dispenser with all other people. Everyone gets a custom location and it will immediately reset when you tick a dispenser. Thus, you're now able to gain tickets at your speed.
  • PID shuffling has been added. PID is the internal Player IDentifier you get when logging into the game. Lower ids sometimes have advantages in the game. Although we do our best to avoid these advantages, they can still happen. The only way to make this fair, is to shuffle the PIDs. You still keep your PID, it won't change, but the server will now randomly process them instead of ascending order. Players will notice this in how the game registers your attacks in places such as the Duel arena.
  • The hit system has majorly been reworked. Before the update, the hit on an entity (player or npc) was registered 0.5 secs before you could see it. This delay has been removed with this update. You're now able to heal yourself before the hit is actually registered on your character. This won't allow you to avoid death in every situation, it merely gives you a 0.5 second time span to react on an incoming hit.

Small changes and bugfixes
  • You can now realistically obtain cake ingredients and complete realistic cake tasks (goodbye baking 5000 cakes!)
  • Smithing items that usually come in stacks now have realistic tasks (bolts, knives, arrowtips)
  • Menaphite cosmetic sets are now dropped in full by bandits.
  • Mutant tarns now count for their full combat level when doing slayer or combat tasks.
  • You can now KO players and monsters with vesta spear specials (before it would only do 90% of your hit, and since Emps does not use overkill you were never able to kill something with the special)
  • The way special attacks work has been adjusted. You should no longer find yourself in situations where your special attack won't activate when you quickly switch your weapon.
  • Players will now be able to find hunter skill items in the skill items exchange just like all the other items.
  • A bug was fixed where entities (players and npcs) were partly or completely invisible.
  • Air spell animations updated.
  • Abyssal demons have had their droptable reworked because of the new Obsidian dragons.
  • Obsidian items are now solely dropped by Obsidian dragons.

Update Notes / Updates - January 12th 2016 - Grand Exchange

Updates January 13th:
  • Noted and unnoted items can now be combined when selling items on the Grand Exchange.
  • Too long item names in the Grand Exchange now appear on a new line.
  • Skilling resources (ores, trees, etc.) should now be displaying correctly again. There was a bug where trees and/or ores wouldn't appear anymore.
  • Your character should no longer walk into random directions when talking to an npc.
  • The search scrollbar in the Grand Exchange will no longer scroll when new in-game messages appear.
  • The internal transaction system of the Grand Exchange is now shuffled to guarantee randomness when determining the person who buys items from somebody else.
  • Fires and hunting traps can no longer be placed onto eachother causing them to disappear.



Hey guys,

Following things have been changed:
  • New date layout for update notes to cause less confusion! ;)
  • Skillcape shop updated. The skillcapes and hoods are now specially selected for your account. Only capes and hoods that you're able to wear will be displayed.
  • Master capes added to the skillcape shop. You need 200M experience in the respective skill to be able to equip them. Those are some real milestones to show off your effort in a skill.
  • Mods and admins have their very own distinctive staff capes back.
  • Multi model buffering technique finished. This feature will improve performance by grouping static models and re-using them for each new map you load ingame, rather than reloading these models with every map change. We're just giving you the status of the development on this mechanism, it will be standard for the game in the coming weeks. Nothing will change other than getting higher fps rates! :)

Most noticable bugfixes:
  • A bug was fixed where bonus damage and accuracy versus slayer tasks wasn't working.
  • Models inside interfaces have been fixed. An example of where this bug occurred was tanning or smelting jewelry.
  • Shantay pass should be clickable for everyone again now.
  • The Staff of light effect is no longer usable in the duel arena.
  • Crafting requirement added for stringing a rabbit foot and added to the crafting skill interface.
  • Enchanted bolts and dragon battleaxe now received hover descriptions for their special effects.
  • Staff of light and spirit shield values slightly increased.
  • Candy canes are now properly equipped on female characters
  • All hit effects should now affect second or third hits with weapons like the dds spec and effects like vengeance and staff of light.
  • Full slayer helm now works as intended, with stats and bonus.



Last but not least, the Grand Exchange is released with this update! We've done intensive testing over the past few months to ensure that this version won't contain any duping issues. Please bear in mind that we cannot prove that no duping issues exist in the system. We will guarantee a rollback if there's major bugs in the system that destroy the game's economy. If you find a duping bug at the Grand Exchange, silently contact a staff member so that we can get the system fixed as soon as possible. A backup was taken right before the update, so if the update totally goes wrong there's close to no progress that will be lost in case of a rollback! :)
