Welcome to my first guide which is about the Smoke Demon Champion.
I'll explain you how you can kill him, which inventory and equipment you need and what his drops are.

Chapter I - Requirements
 


• Guardian Angel (item recovery)
  This is not a requirement but I strongly suggest having an active Guardian Angel. This will allow you to keep your items on death, and thus your Steel key ring will be kept. Which means you don't have to collect all 5 keys again.
  You can get a Guardian Angel by paying Brother Althric 1 million gp, he can be found in the Edgevillage Monastery.


• Premium membership

• Steel key ring
  You'll need this to enter the boss chamber, in order to do that you'll need to make the ''Steel ring key'',
  you can make the Steel ring key by collecting the 5 different keys which are dropped by the NPC's below

 
• Face mask/Slayer helmet
   If you don't wear a Face mask or a Slayer helmet you'll choke by the gasses of the Smoke dungeon, It will hit you with 2-4 per second.
  Face mask can be bought from slayer shops for 253 coins. Which are owned by slayer masters. It is also spawned on the ground at the cave entrance, near Velrak.
 Slayer helmet can be bought from Chaeldar's Slayer Point Exchange for 7500 slayer points.
 

 

Triangle Key* - dropped by the Skeleton Hero
Square Key* - dropped by the Skeleton Thug / Brute / Warlord / Heavy
Circle Key* - dropped by the Gorak (requires a slayer level of 78)
Cross Key* - dropped by the Nechryael (requires a slayer level of 80)
Pentagon Key* - dropped by the Dark beast (requires a slayer level of 90)
*The keys aren't actually called by their shape, they're just named by ''key''
 
If you got the 5 diffrent keys you'll have to take them all with you to ''Velrak the explorer'', he is a man standing at the start of the dungeon, near the rope. Talk with him and he'll make the steel ring key for you.

Chapter II - Inventory & equipment
 
Due to an update in October the Smoke Demon Champion doesn't hit that much with his melee attacks and therefore is fighting him with melee more effective.

The reason for bringing a Statius's warhammer is for it's special attack which basicly
strikes your enemy and decreases their defence immediately by 20%, no matter what you hit!
If you don't have a Statius's warhammer you could use a Bandos godsword instead.

Chapter III - How to get there
 
You can teleport to Al-Kharid and walk to the shantay pass and talk to the Rug merchant and he'll teleport you to Pollnivneach and you can walk from there to the Smokey Well.
 

 

 

 
You can also use the Ghorrock Teleport (requires a magic level of 96 and the Acient spellbook)

There are 3 NPC's in the boss chamber
 
1. Smoke Demon Champion
   Combat level: 618
   Hitpoints: 500
 

 
2. Tstanon Karlak
   Combat level: 145
   Hitpoints: 110
 

 
3. Doominion
   Combat level: 91
   Hitpoints: 90

Chapter VI - Strategy
 
As I mentioned earlier it is best to kill him with melee since melee is quite accurate.
When you enter the room you have to turn on your Protect from Magic because the Smoke Demon Champion can hit ~73 with his Magic attack (without prayer on) and on top of that he also has a melee maxhit ~30 (without prayer on).

You can either choose to risk your health by using Protect from Melee prayer and try to keep your health 70+ to spare some food. Or you can constantly use Protect from Magic to avoid ~70 hits but this will cost you more food overtime.

Also make sure the minions can't reach you since they can deal additional & unnecessary damage, they may not hit that high but combined with a high hit from the Champion it might be fatal.

Rod of Ivandis (10), Dark dagger, Rune hasta, Dragon boots, Barrow gloves, Uncut onyx,
 Chest key, Robin hat, Ranger boots, Dragon hatchet, Half of key loop, Half of key Tooth,
Barb boltstips (56-186), Rune bar (2-12), Super attack (2), Shark, Rune boots, Coins (42.633 - 84.362),
Ashes
 
Teal = 100% chance on this drop
Green = Almost nothing worth and high chance on this loot
Neutral = An uncommon drop, worth of maximum 1 million GP
Orange = A rare drop but not the rarest + most worthfull
Red = The rarest and most worthfull drop
