bandos has better strength stats
but 3rd age has better overall stats

which is better out of both?

Bandos armour is better in my opinion.
Very helpful when you are bossing, you will deal more damage thus more chance on receiving the drop!

      ^^ I agree with this. Bandos will make you hit higher.

I'd say bandos > 3rd. Both have great defence bonuses, 3rd being the better of the two defence wise.
3rd has no attack/str bonus though, which means bandos does more dps.
More dps = faster kills = less time tanking = the defence is less important.
Both are probably equally efficient if you don't take killing time into account though.

If you're on a low budget though, 3rd is perfectly acceptable while bossing.

Actually 3rd melee set has more attack bonus than bandos does. But like said before, it still wont make up the str bonus of Bandos, wich makes Bandos better. But, it also costs like two times more than 3rd age does.

This is why the wiki was made, to show the bonus differences.

Third age is great for soloing a boss as it has tons of defence.

Bandos armour is often used in duos & trios / 2 player and 3 player teams. Why? When 2-3 bandos armour players strikes the boss, he dies very quick due the strength bandos provides and the boss doesn't get time to lower their hitpoints.
