Current state of private chat

For some time now, when you click on someone's name or even the sentence they said, you get into a private chat with that person.
It's really frustrating when you click on chat for whatever reason and you end up sending the message to the wrong person without the desire to do so.
I'd suggest either making that command toggle only with double clicks, or if that's too hard to code, just remove it and make it accessible only through right clicking then 'Message X'.

I don't see where the big problem is. If you learn how to use it properly, it's damn convenient.
Ofc I wouldn't mind a toggle in settings, but it isn't worth it imo.

I don't use it either and because pming is now directly in the chatbox without dialogue popup its very easy to mistake it for public chat because theres no clear difference.. super annoying

Exactly, the amount of messages I've sent to people by mistake is ridiculous. I'm not the only one here, a ton of my friends suffer from this as well.

Left-clicking in the chatbox will no longer trigger private messaging. If left-clicking on a name, the right-click menu will by opened by default now. Thanks for pointing this out, it is indeed annoying.

I find the changes annoying. It worked perfectly fine earlier and now it requires double-clicking, even in your friendlist.
These changes were unnecessary and made the whole process unconvenient.
I really hope it's reverted or a toggle is made, because I absolutely hate it right now.

Totally agree with Magecrune, i find it as annoying aswell. Maybe the better solution would be to set settings about it, so everyone could decide themselves about it, but atm i find it useless -.- .

Who cares if they get pmmed by wrong people?

I think this update wasn't really needed, and it's quite annoying.
Now the chance to delete people from your list is bigger than pmming them.

in my opinion these changes were not needed. this makes pming some friends quickly so much annoying and if you suffer from pming the wrong person over and over again, you should really start learn how to click correctly

Yes it currently affects friendlist as well. However, I want it removed from chatbox too, because the removal was completely unnecessary. There are no other reasons (other than pming) why anyone should click on the chatbox, so the argument of sending pm-s to wrong people is not valid.

I would still be fine if we had a toggle for this, but the removal was just stupid.

I absolutely don't know what you guys are talking about. I can left-click my friends in my friends list to message them as always.

EDIT: I think Thomy read the replies and fixed it to left clicking friends in the friends list would open a private message, and left clicking a username in chat would open the usual right-click menu.
