Why is Emps so heavy on me CPU?
« on: July 20, 2016, 07:46:57 pm »
Quick Finnish lesson: suoritin = processor , muisti = memory

Why does opening a second client triple the cpu power needed to run the initial single client? Meanwhile RS3 NXT client chilling at 0% cpu usage. Settings on both clients https://i.gyazo.com/bb7f1f58ef41baf7f7dd8bcca6d6839b.png

My cpu is intel i7 3770

Seem to have this problem as well, having 2 clients open slows my whole laptop down a ridiculous amount to the point where it's almost un-useable lmao.

Most of the bottleneck in Emps is communication between the CPU and GPU. When you have two clients open it bottlenecks much harder than just one client, and this shows up as increased CPU usage (as the CPU has to wait for previous commands it gave to the GPU to finish before starting new ones). Changing the settings can help reduce the effect, with the biggest improvement coming from turning VBO mode on if you haven't already (as this massively reduces the communication between CPU to GPU by keeping data on the GPU rather than retransmitting it every frame).

CPU usage in Emps is also higher in general than RS client for various reasons, such as higher frame rate limit and many improvements made to the RS client over the years which aren't present in Emps.
ignore acc pls

Gave the game access to more RAM from the launcher settings and noticed a significant improvement in performance and cpu usage.

That's an interesting solution, thank you! Are you limitting the fps rate? That should also help a lot.
