Black salamander is a ranged weapon which requires a range level of 70 to wield. It can shoot with all tiers of herb tars. The black salamander is only usable for 200 charges until it dies. The type of herb tars will determine the ranged strength (and thus the maxhit) of the attack.
Black salamanders can be obtained through hunter. To be able to catch black salamanders; you must have an active membership, a box trap, and a hunter level of 92. They are only located inside the Karamja volcano and in the wilderness near the mage bank. Catching one rewards you with 2,061 hunter experience.
