This should be simple to follow, and it won't be a book to read either.
With private chat now you can only use the same color when private messaging someone, a cyan color.
I'm suggesting that you get the option to change it to a different color if you choose like red, yellow, purple, etc. I believe Runescape use to have a feature like this and it was always fun to mess with.
If you don't know what I am talking about when I say the color on your private message, look at the picture below.

This feature could be changed within the 'tools section' on your tool belt. Pictured below. I'm not sure which setting it would be under, but these are the two that it could potentially be under.

This suggestion would be being able to change the font of your private messages.

I think what your trying to say is that players are able to change the colour of the text that will only appear to them that it's changed and to everyone else it is normal or what ever they have changed it to. I am already happy with the current text colour but if it doesn't affect anyone else's screen than I don't see why not some poeple have trouble seeing with certain colours but I see great with this default colour some people see better with others so everyone should have the choice aslong as the colours in the chat box dont change and they stay default to everyone else

I agree, although most of the time it can be fixed by rotating your screen it would just be handy to have it as simple as what you have suggested.

Whilst we are on the topic of Private Chat, could I gather some thoughts on fixing the private chat when opening your bank. When you open your bank if you are messaging a mate your message will get deleted. Myself personally I tend to reply to someone when I am running, I always find myself rushing to type the message before the client opens the bank. I know I can fix this but it would just be so much easier and less of a hassle if this could be changed.
