Greater Hellhound (Semi-Boss)
« on: December 24, 2016, 11:00:50 am »
My suggestion would be introduce greater versions of some of the monsters as Bosses to have variety in choice whether to slay normal ones or bigger ones and a lot more challenging. For instance, Hellhounds. Boss version - Greater Hellhound(Instanced place, so other players won't bother you against it) Naturally, Boss coming in game means having something unique to work on, so even with Helldog as pet it won't be any sort of challenge to do, therefore I came up with more advanced skilling improvment called Inferno equipment. While it is implemented in RS3, in Emps it would be named as Fiery. Greater Hellhound will have a chance of 1 in 250 dropping Fiery Stone. You wondering how actually it could be working in a manner to use in Emps? Fiery Stone Combined with ONLY Dragon Hatchet  would give Fiery Hatchet being able to use it requires 92 Woodcutting. After 10000 uses, Fiery Stone will seperate from hatchet and instantly turns to dust. Having this stone would increase the rate of gathering crushed nest, though bonus doesn't stack with rabbit foot necklace (not sure if it gives any bonuses). Besides this, where it should be located? Adding obstacle near Hellhounds in Barbarian Village could be idea, though I'm open to see what you think about it as Boss version for tasks as well. Slayer exp per kill would be around 2300~ exp and since it's instanced place you would need to re-enter it. Slayer level required 89. Combat Level 529, Hitpoints 270. Attacks with all three styles around 30 per style. Weaker to ranged attacks or ice/water spells.
Drop table can be edited likewise, it doesn't supposed to be like something I listed. As for Fiery equipment, since Emps is having Obsidian overlay we could collaborate it with Fiery making it look somewhat obsidian and dragon enchantment. Design is up to higher Ups or players who can make one, I just invoked idea, sorry, don't have so much design skills up my sleeves to show it...
EDITED: Also added Fiery blade's claw, attachable to dragon scimitar, making as weapon in single-handed weapon slot, with gives almost as good stats as whips, but with special attack, which boosts it's usage, it becomes stronger than Saradomin Sword for 2 minutes. 70 Attack required to equip it. After 10000 uses, it turns to dust, and in inventory you will either receive claw or scimitar ratio being 1:1.
Fiery Crossbow requires 85 ranged, fires any type of bolts, including kebbit bolts, has a special attack working like Saradomin Godsword, only with prayer healing and not hitpoints.

Drop Table:

3 - Super Restores (4)
3 - Saradomin Brews (4)
3 - Zamorak Brews (4)
5 - Super Combat (4)
4 - Super Ranging (4)
4 - Super Magic (4)
10250 - 46150 - Coins
10 - 55 Bowstring
960 - 1200 Arrowshafts
100 - 150 Dragon Bolt Tips
7 - 44 Runite Bolts
1 - 5 Grimy Snapdragon(noted)
1 - 5 Grimy Toadflax(noted)
1 - 6 Grimy Dwarf Weed(noted)
1 - 4 Grimy Kwuarm(noted)
10 - 53 Mithril Ore(noted)
2 - 15 Adamant Bars(noted)
22 - 78 Gold Ore(noted)
1 - 9 Rune Bar(noted)
1 - 6 Sharks
1 - 4 Manta Ray
10 - 33 Magic Logs(noted)
1 - 3 Uncut Dragonstone
1 - Fiery Stone(1 in 250 drop)
25 - 30 - Mystic Fire Staff(1 in 100 drop) <- Good Alchs for those who don't know why it's here.
7 - 20 - Burnt Bones(noted)
1 - Hell-Doggy (1 in 1000 drop)
1 - Fiery Blade's Claw(1 in 250 drop)
1 - Fiery Crossbow (1 in 250 drop)

Intresting suggestion. I don't really have a opinion on that but i sure think that dragon pickaxe shouldn't be dropped by monsters.

Droplist needs adjustment. Also Dragon pickaxe doesn't belong there.

As far as your Fiery Gatherer is concerned, I'd rather stick with the original Inferno Adze and Imcando pickaxe and their effects. We could also slightly boost woodcutting and mining xp on them (5-10%).
Mining and woodcutting are both quite fast already (especially woodcutting), so making it even faster doesn't make sense, unless something new and very specific (new type of ore/tree) is introduced.
Why would you add fishing though? O_o

While I like the idea of having those 2 tools, but I don't think we should add them via PvM. This stone, which allows you to turn the hatchet into Inferno Adze and pickaxe to Imcando pickaxe, should be available at Evil Tree minigame (Distractions and diverrsions). That idea has always had a lot of popularity and this reward would suit it very well. Also, since it has charges, it would keep the minigame viable, which is also great.

Sorry for slightly getting off track, since it's about the monster not the drops, but I just don't think a monster should drop these.
I wouldn't mind the monster, however he seems pretty bland. Introduce some new mechanics atleast. Otherwise it's up to the drop, if it becomes dead content or not.

E: Forgot to mention that we don't have weaknesses to specific style in Emps.

Genuinely would pick hellhounds over a boss version. The higher defence and damage it would likely have would not be worth the extra exp, to me at least.

This boss would:
  • Require a custom model/animations
  • Need an instance
  • Need a few more custom models for fiery equipment/stone
  • Not be worth developing

Adding all dragon weapons to a droptable is a bad idea, we'd generally want them to not be alchables. Onyx is already on way too many fucking droptables and should even be removed from some. Dragon pickaxe is the sole reason mining stars is done by some people, don't bloody ruin that.

We don't have stab/slash/crush, we have one melee bonus.

I think it's blatantly obvious that our current bosses have plenty of problems with them, I'd rather see suggestions for those than new bosses.

Dragon hatchet still is a bad drop, goraks are just fine in terms of a source.
Barrow gloves are already downright unsellable, don't need more sources for them.
Long bones aren't very exciting, would add them how they are in rs instead.
Also, slayer exp is based on hp.
I would like it to be easy to get to, having to travel miles for anything generally isn't very well liked. Requirements are a different thing entirely, we need more things with high requirements ingame.
Still would favor changes to existing bosses over this.

I'd rather stick with the original Inferno Adze and Imcando pickaxe and their effects.

Trust me, they're utterly useless and nobody would use them. This sounds way better.

Current Bosses you say? Well, actually it's true they have some problems to be worked on, but nothing is perfect and rather than focusing on each and every problem on boss, meanwhile you can create new content for players to use while higher ups work on content that has problems. Cause even when Obsidian Dragons came out, although they are not counted as Boss but it actually takes time for lower levels to kill it, overall unless yo do clues, it would've became dead content right after release. Obsidian Claws haven't seen people demanding them at all :/ Only items good it has is onyx and Obsidian equipment required for clues.
One of better example are Spectrals which never even became dead content, even though Pkers lurk there usually(nowadays not sure, even Edgeville north Pk is nearly empty most of the time in world 1). High demanding armour and weapons, widely used in Pk and PvM.
Not even close to extinction.
Unless, you were referring to God Wars Bosses, Smoke Demon Champion and etc. Then, as far as I know, they mechanics need to be reworked a bit, but not overworked as some has it.
One good tip while I'm doing replying, Can someone update WIKI of Emps-World? Somehow general info about monsters doesn't stand up to reality...

Obsidian dragons aren't a boss, also afaik obsidian claws are quite okay in PvP. Onyxes and obsidian equipment aren't in very high demand and are much easier obtainable by just killing jad for a load of tokkul. Spectrals aren't a boss either, and most of their drops are best in slot, hence their demand.

I'm talking about god wars, kalphite queen, corporeal beast, smoke demon champion, wildywyrm, kbd and chronozon. They either suffer from being quite boring to kill due to their mechanics (or lack of them), or have droptables that flat out make them not worth killing. I'm really going off topic now though.

As for the wiki, that's seen quite a lot of inactivity lately, I myself am trying to fix that at the moment. You're more than welcome to help. I'm working on clue scroll pages at the moment however. And most of the bosses are up to date afaik.
