Forum language
« on: November 12, 2014, 06:35:29 pm »
Hey guys,

I had this idea after I met someone ingame who was looking for the price list, but didn't understand well enough English to find it on the forum. What if we made it possible to have different forum languages? It shouldn't be any extra work for the staff team, we could make these translation teams (even Twitter makes use of it: https://translate.twitter.com/dashboard) to translate the forum into several languages if the forum theme allows this too. Just like with a website, a little flag or EN/NL/DE/etc.. to change the language.

One of the problems might be that people will start commenting in their own language, but this could be prevented easily by making rules in their own language. This might actually prevent a lot of shoutbox/forum rule-breaking, because people are more aware of which rules they are breaking.

Well the forums is SUPPOSED to be english only, as specified somewhere in the rules iirc. So that kinda defeats the purpose.

In somekind of way I agree with you,
But on the other hand why would we do that since only english is allowed to post with, so what is the actual purpose of translating the forum, since the people still won't read any topics since his or her English is too bad.
Or did you mean set up a team to translate ALL topics & replies to other languages?  ???

If i remember correctly SMF has already made diffrent language packages which can be toggled by any high-admin (maybe still need to be installed, but it's not that big of a deal.)

by the way in this particulair case it could be solved by adding a command  "::pricelist" to the game, which will ofcourse take you to the pricelist.

I typed ::commands in yesterday and saw it there. I've been directing people there when they ask me the price of items I'm unsure of.
