Title: Slow Motion bug
Post by: Utter Chaos on January 15, 2015, 05:15:38 pm
I am starting this post in order to respond to a question that was asked to me in another post that was moved to bug reports so I can no longer respond to it. The link to that post is below.

I can test this, but I'm at work. I wont be able to until around 5:00 pm CST. I believe I was using the classic version, so tonight I'll use the newer client and see if I can recreate it. If not, I'll exclusively use the new client to try to find another way to recreate the issue and post my findings here.

Thanks,
Cody

After testing for a quite a while yesterday with the newer client I was unable to reproduce the issue. The main thing I tried was dropping a bunch of random items on the ground and seeing what the effect was. In the video posted by Lars, he seems to run slow after picking up items from a kill in the wilderness,  and in the old client I was able to reproduce it when picking flax (ie. Picking up items). I noticed a little bit of slowness for the first couple seconds, but it seemed to go away rather quickly and was relatively unnoticeable.

On a separate note, I did experience a little bit of slowness when screen sharing via skype. My fps remained around 50 the entire time. When I stopped sharing, it all worked fine. Maybe some video software interferes somewhere?

On a third and final note, I've noticed slowness when my internet connection is slow. My fps remains the same, but my speed drops down to 1 mbps. When it goes back up to around 15 to 20 mbps the issue goes away.

It's probably due to internet speed yes, lars only gets the issue when he's streaming, and as you said you encounter the same issue when you are screensharing, basically two very bandwidth-consuming things. It'll probably be the same too if you have file-share programs running without bandwidth limit. Your computer prioritizes this kind of internet traffic over Emps then I guess.

I was able to detect the slow-motion bug in the classic client and fixed it. Pleas restart your client and the issue should be gone. If not, feel free to make another bug report topic.
