Title: Protect item does not work!

I used prayer (protect item) I was skulled and I had only 1 expensive item.
I went just tryharding with my item and I checked it all the time and prayer did not run out.
then I died. My item is gone. I am so nervous. And I want my item back also.
If I was at wildereness checked again then it says I get that item back. but no...

I've just checked the protect item prayer and it worked flawlessly, also while being skulled. There is a case, where it won't work though. When your enemy uses a dragon scimitar special attack on you, all prayers are reset. Was this the case?
