Java occasionally becoming non-responsive when logging in
« on: August 22, 2015, 10:04:50 am »
This sometimes happens when logging in: the client freezes and it becomes non-responsive. After trying to close by clicking the red X, I get report of my Java becoming non-responsive as well.

This may just be a problem with my Java, maybe it's just outdated. I still wanted to report this if this has any use figuring out what is causing login problems for other people as well.

OpenGL or classic client? Are you using the animated background, or the image? Is it possible, that your computer is a little bit older and has weak specs? I could imagine the client slowing down older computers, because it tries to get the maximum performance.

Is your FPS rate capped? If not, I recommend you cap it at 50 or 60.

I set my FPS cap at 50; now this happens.

Better than having to restart my client, at least. It tries to reconnects after the thing starts working properly.

This issue only appears at the animated background. I can't reproduce it though. As a temporary fix I recommend using the background image.

Seems to work fine with the background image, indeed. Thanks!
