But where's the extra floors?

Stairs and alcohol can be dangerous together. Safety first.

Guides / Wiki editing guide
« on: December 09, 2018, 06:56:41 pm »
Introduction
This guide will teach some of the basics of editing Wiki pages.
If you're a new member of the Wiki team, then you don't need to read all of it. Instead just read the "Basic editing" and look through the titles of the other sections, so that you can come back to it if you need to check how something is done.

Basic editing
Wiki syntax -   Description
* - When used as a first thing in a line, creates a bullet point for lists.
==Heading== - Turns "Heading" into a heading.
===Subheading=== - Turns "Subheading" into a subheading.
__FORCETOC__ - Forces table of contents (added automatically if there are 4 or more headings on the page).
__NOTOC__ - Removes table of contents (use on short pages with many headings).
#REDIRECT pagename - If it's the only content on the page, automatically redirects to pagename.
<!--- comment ---> - Allows adding comments for other Wiki editors, that are not displayed on the page.
pagename - Turns the word "pagename" into a link to pagename (use whenever the content on a Wiki page is related to anything for which there is or should be a Wiki page).
Adding a link to the page itself will create bold text.
text - A link to pagename that says "text".

- Ways of displaying the file image.png as an image, can include alignment (left/center/right) and image width.
PAGENAME - Displays the name of the current Wiki page in text.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Wines of Zamorak
« on: November 11, 2018, 10:15:53 am »
I'd say that it's already quite balanced.

To get 1k potato cacti, you'd need to kill about 1,400 banshees. Each banshee has 110 hp, which means that you would need to deal about 150k damage.
To get 1k wine of zamorak, you'd need to kill about 3,300 monks of zamorak. Each monk of zamorak has 42 hp, which means that you would need to deal about 140k damage.

General Discussion / Re: Economy is fucked up.
« on: November 01, 2018, 02:59:36 pm »
I'd say that the biggest problem is that you don't need any money because after a few months of playing you'll have a complete bank with all the items that anyone would ever need and that will never be lost.

Secondly I think that minigame rewards should be superior to pvm drops. I just compared Saradomin katana and Demon halberd and it seems like the only thing Saradomin katana has going for it is lifesteal, whereas Demon halberd is more powerful, has more charges and can be repaired. I believe that any two of those should be nerfed. Presumably the same should be done to other similar pvm drops.
Another thing to consider would be to always have the most powerful items for every combat style be something that has charges, can't be repaired for coins and disappears when charges run out, otherwise we'll just continue to run into the situation where every pvmer has the top tier equipment and has no need for any more money or items.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Xp table
« on: October 21, 2018, 03:08:11 am »
You can't find it by typing XP table nor experience table, but yeah nvm. also you could add the virtual levels too

Thanks for the suggestion, created redirect pages for both xp table and experience table. You can now find them by searching on wiki or you can type the command "::wiki xp table" in game to open it.
I'll add virtual levels as well.

Even bigger (requested in PM):
25x the original size, used the same two steps, but multiplied the image size by 25 this time.
https://i.imgur.com/FLt3Hzc.png
https://i.imgur.com/n1EYv8i.png
https://i.imgur.com/mYQrrPj.png

Logo 1 100x the original size:
https://i.imgur.com/ji8R4uZ.png
Logo 2, around 50x the original size (Not sure why, but that's what I got when I tried to make it 100 times bigger):
https://i.imgur.com/iNOBMgp.jpg

Posted here and not in PM because as you may have noticed, the stars on the second logo don't look all that great and there are less of them than there were on the original because the image only has two colors, so if someone with some art talent wants to erase them and draw a few better looking dots then you can feel free to use my hard work (although not sure if it would make a noticeable difference on a shirt, if not then disregard my thoughts).

Seems like Imgur is compressing some of the pics and converted one into .jpg, which results in lower quality.
So here's a dropbox link for the images:

Here, I copied the pic from that website and just resized it to be 10 times bigger... not really sure what else I was supposed to do, but it should be large enough for you to copy and paste it into any image editing software and cut out the parts you like.

Pictures might be resized by the forum to appear smaller, just download them to see them in full size if that's the case.

Or if you're too lazy to cut them out yourself then here are the logos:
(noticed that this isn't visible at all in the default forum theme, because it's just white text on a white forum background, so added links under the images for filthy normies)

Suggestions & Ideas / Daily bonuses
« on: September 23, 2018, 08:06:50 am »
I've been thinking that instead of the usual double xp and double minigame tickets, we could have a few different more specific bonuses every day.
How this would work is that every day there would be a notification saying "Day of *", where * is some type of a theme for the bonuses, followed by a list of bonuses for that day. These bonuses could apply to all sorts of activities, such as training skills, killing NPCs or playing minigames. These could be predetermined on some days (for example they could be used to introduce new content right after updates) and picked randomly at other days.

Some examples of what these bonuses could be (the percentages don't have to be what I say and there can be more bonuses on each day, but it should probably be kept between 2-5 bonuses per day):

Day of the Warrior
+50% Attack, Strength, Defence and Hitpoints experience in melee combat.
Special attack regenerates 30% faster.
Double Warrior's Guild tokens.

Day of the Archer
+50% Ranged and Hitpoints experience in ranged combat.
+30% chance of saving ammunition when firing ranged weapons. (Stacks with Ava and Max cape bumping them up to 80% arrows saved and also saves 30% of arrows without them.)
Tower archers guard the Grand exchange. (Just spawn like 10-20 of them in the Grand exchange)

Day of Foresters
+50% Woodcutting, Firemaking and Fletching experience.
+50% chance of acquiring Crushed nests while cutting trees. (Could also make it so that all trees give crushed nests on that day)
Double farming experience for growing trees.

Day of Pest Control
Double Pest Control tokens.
Portals inside Pest control have 200 hitpoints and are unlocked twice as quickly.
Pest Control rounds last half as long and the maximum damage is halved from 2k to 1k.
(TL;DR: Same amount of tokens for half the effort)

Day of the Undead
+10% damage against the undead. (Stacks with salve amulet)
+50% Barrows Brothers rewards. (Multiply the count of Barrows Brothers killed by 1.5, rounded down, before awarding rewards, so it's up to 9 rewards with all 6 Barrows Brothers killed)
Killing 300 ghosts awards players with an untradeable version of a GA ticket. (Can be claimed only once per player)

Day of the Mage
+50% Magic and Hitpoints experience when using magic.
+20% chance of preserving runes on cast. (Stacks with Staff of light)
Wizards have a 0.5% chance of dropping Mage's Book.

Day of the Monk
+100% Prayer experience while wearing Monk's robes. (Stacks with altar bonuses in POH for up to 450% xp)
Prayer potions restore 20% more prayer points. (But not restore pots, maybe some other day)
Prayer points regenerate while resting. (at around the same rate or slightly faster than they drain with a single prayer on, so that people can sit around with prayer icons over their heads, because why not)
Monks wander around Varrock. (spawn several around the town and a few inside the GE as well)

Day of Tzhaar
+10% damage against Tzhaar monsters. (including all monsters inside the Jad minigame)
+50% tokkul drops. (including Jad minigame rewards)
Every 10th kill in fight pits awards an event point. (Max 10 event points for 100 kills per player or if that's too much then 1 event point every 20th kill for a max of 5 event points?)

Day of Emps Wars
Damage increased by 20% inside the Emps-Wars minigame. (Against both other players and any of the NPCs)
+50% Emps Wars ticket rewards. (rounded up)
Wearing Saradomin or Zamorak team cape and hood together turns players into Ice Queen or Fareed accordingly. (Same effect as pnpc command, operating either of them while wearing both activates it, operating them again turns it off, doesn't work in wilderness or minigames)

Day of Extra Rewards
10% chance of getting another casket of the same tier when opening one. (Or whatever Jp said, I haven't done clue scrolls, also same thing with fishing caskets)
20% chance of getting another voting reward box when opening one. (Rare boxes may award any or all of the other 3 reward boxes)
30% chance of getting another reward from burnt chest and crystal chest. (why not?)
Shooting stars contain 2 uncut onyxes and appear twice as often.

These are some examples (I don't know if all of them are doable), more could be added later. Feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Huh... interesting.

Since this is in general discussion and no one cares about what you'll do as a regular player, is there a reason for your resignation that we can discuss? Who's going to take your place? What were the Dutch promotions about recently? There used to be a time when half the staff members were Estonian and other countries were barely represented at all. Is it now going to be dominated by Dutch people? Is this Jp's doing? Is this an attempt to lure Charr back, because as you pointed out yourself at the time, you were the only person named in Charr's topic that he was critical about.

What you're providing isn't enough to start a discussion.

Guides / Re: How I do images and videos

No like from me because you make better guides than me! :(
I had to defeat a whole firewall just to post this guide, no like even for that? :(
I was just aiming to improve on the guide Charr made https://emps-world.net/forum/guides/(guidewriting)-how-i-do-images/?~18891
By getting rid of the high-level software like paint, meanwhile including video capture... which I'm not even teaching how to do in this guide, but which can easily be done with ShareX after it has been set up.

Guides / How I do images and videos
« on: August 20, 2018, 01:25:53 pm »
Introduction
I noticed a need for a decent beginner friendly guide for recording videos for things like bug reports, also I noticed that Charr's guide for images is way too complex. So I decided to make a short introduction to ShareX, the tool that I've been using for such things for quite a while.

Requirements
Windows 7, 8.1 or 10
ShareX (Install is rather straightforward, just leave everything ticked and allow it to create the context menu shortcuts because even though not used in this guide, they are sometimes useful.)

Setting up ShareX for optimal usage.
It's ready to be used right away and it should be easy enough to use but here are some settings that I recommend that make it even easier and more comfortable to use.
1st (hotkeys):
Open main window of ShareX, by right-clicking on the icon in taskbar and choosing "Open main window" and then select "Hotkey settings".

From there I recommend creating these 6 hotkeys (you can change them later, but I've personally found those 6 to be the most useful):

Just Press "Add" and select the task, don't change anything else and close the Task settings window to return to the Hotkey settings window.

Do this for each task and then set the hotkeys by clicking on the box that says "none" and press the hotkey that you want to assign to it.

Explanation for what those do:
Capture region - Will freeze the screen and allow you to select a region on the screen to take a screenshot of, automatically detects some windows and different sections in windows, you can just click on the screen when a region is chosen or manually select a region yourself for which there's a magnifying glass allowing you to select with pixel accuracy.
Capture entire screen - Takes a screenshot of the whole screen. Useful as a backup option in case you don't have any time to choose a region on the screen.
Capture active window - Comes in handy mostly for reports because you need to take a screenshot of the whole window, so you save a second that would be spent on selecting the window.
Screen recording (Gif) - Useful for quick recording that can be uploaded directly to imgur (if the file size permits it).
Upload from Clipboard - Automatically detects clipboard contents and uploads images to image sharing websites such as Imgur and text to text sharing websites like Pastebin, after upload the clipboard contents will be replaced with a link to the upload. This is optional as upload can be done automatically after capture, but having tried both, I personally find the extra step of using a hotkey for upload to be more useful, as I often need to edit the image before upload.
Start/Stop screen recording using custom region. - In case you need longer videos that can be uploaded to Youtube.

2nd (After capture tasks):
Go back to the main window and select After capture tasks.

From there select "Copy image to clipboard" and "Save image to file", unselect everything else. (Alternatively if you prefer not using a hotkey for upload then unselect "Copy image to clipboard" and select "Upload image to host" instead, but that will come with a disadvantage of it taking an extra step if instead of uploading you want to edit the image first.)

3rd (After upload tasks):
Next select After upload tasks.

From there simply select "Copy URL to clipboard" and unselect everything else, this will mean that you can easily take a screenshot with one hotkey, upload it with another and then paste the link without ever having to worry about going to Imgur to upload the image.

4th (Destinations):
Select Destinations.

From there you probably want to select Imgur as image uploader and Pastebin as text uploader (if you prefer other sites then there are other options), I've personally never needed the file uploader, URL shortener or URL sharing service, so I'd just leave those to be random, if you do need any of them then feel free to look through the options (note that you shouldn't use URL shorteners in Emps services as they're generally not allowed).

There are other options under Task settings and Application settings that you can feel free to look through, but these are the basic settings that I'd recommend for a start.

How to post images
Charr's guide has this section, so if it's necessary then this is how you post images on forum:
Code: [Select]
Surround the link with [img] and [/img] like this:

[img]https://i.imgur.com/8mEdbbW.png[/img]
Although if you forget then you can just quote other people's posts to see how they've done it and do what they did, just don't reply after you've quoted the post.
You can also just paste the link and while the link is selected, click on the "Insert image" option in forum, which looks like this in the Bright Forest forum theme and should look similar in others, this will automatically surround the selected text with the img tags.

Editing images
ShareX also includes a very easy to use simplistic image editor, to use it simply go to the ShareX main window, right click on a screenshot you've taken and select "Edit image"

The editor includes useful tools for quick edits such as the "Drawing arrow" tool, "Step" tool (that just counts up from 1 so that you can mark the steps in a certain order in your image) and things like highlight tool and blur/pixelate tools. There's also an option to crop the image under "image" option.

Done
You should now be ready to use ShareX, just press the hotkey for whatever you need to do, select the area (if necessary) and if you're recording the screen then once you're done stop the recording to save the file, then press the hotkey for upload (gifs may need to be uploaded through the ShareX main window, just right click on the gif and select "Upload") and you're done. ShareX also keeps a record of the captures you've taken and the files you've uploaded through it, so if you need a link for an image that you've already uploaded then you can just right click on the image in ShareX main window and under "Copy" select "Copy URL".

Here's a gif recorded with ShareX:

Also note that if you want to use gifs on the forum then Imgur links may end with ".gifv" instead of ".gif" and may therefore not work, if that's the case then just delete the "v" from the link, so you get ".gif" and that should fix it.

Any feedback? Is the guide too detailed? Is it not detailed enough? Post your thoughts in the comments down below and don't forget to smash that like button.
