Guides / Re: Request a guide?
« on: October 11, 2014, 07:57:20 pm »
That is a great idea George, Will the normal players be assigned to work on a guide due to the other players' requests or Making a guide will be only taken care of by a Staff Member?

Normal players can work on them, too. However, I expect a proper guide for a request, not some gibberish content.

FAQ and Rules / Forum Punishments [Infractions]

Forum Punishments [Infractions]

Please read this thread if you are in doubt about the following:

  • What can you be punished for on forums;
  • How much does a rule break weight in terms of infraction percentage;
  • What you have to do to get your infraction percentage reduced;
  • What does the private message from "Emps Forum" mean.

What can you be punished for on forums

In general all the forum rules apply to all sections, with very small differences from one section to another (i.e. Spamming is not so strict in Off-Topic as it is in all the other forum boards). We usually do not issue any formal forum warnings before actually sending infraction issues, that is because you have the Forum Rules & Guidelines which you should have read before starting posting stuff on the forums. However, the infractions are not so strict for spamming or other small rule-breaks, but you can get banned in a second if you break multiple rules/continuously break the rules over time/break the serious rules.

How much does a rule break weight in terms of infraction percentage

Notice: This list is non-exhaustive and ultimately it is up to discretion of the members of staff whether someone is required to be punished differently.

  • Spamming - we usually issue 5 to 10% infraction for spamming, however, if continuously spamming or severe spamming you can receive 15% or more at a time;
  • Digging - digging up old threads on the forums is usually punished with 5% infraction percentage only, if repeated it will be higher;
  • Flaming/Trolling - we do not tolerate flaming of any sort or trolling on the forums - it will be punished with 10 to 15% infraction percentage;
  • Inappropriate content - Any inappropriate content which is being posted with the intention to harm our community members or break the forum rules will be punished with a full forum mute;
  • Bypassing Moderation/Filters - Any attempt to avoid our moderation process will be hardly punished with 20% + infraction on your (new) account(s);
  • Advertising - this is NOT tolerated at all - this will be punished with a full forum mute on all your accounts

What you have to do to get your infraction percentage lowered/reduced

If you received forums infraction and are unhappy with it, do not panic! You can always get it lowered. All you have to do is respect the forum rules and act in an appropriate manner. Once infracted for over 10%, you automatically get on our Watched List, which means your activity on forums will be watched more strictly than all the others. While this may sound bad, it also means that if we see improvement in your behaviour, we will reduce it accordingly (and if you continue to misbehave, you may find yourself re-infracted or even end up muted on the forums).

When you get moderated on the forums, a staff member has to go through every new post you make and manually accept it, to make sure you do not post something that breaks the rules (again).

If you get muted on the forums, you can always come with another account. That goes without saying. However, if you do that in order to bypass our moderation and keep breaking our rules, you will find yourself IP banned on the forums. You can also show good behaviour on the new forum account and in a brief period of time you can ask a staff member to look over your activity, in order to release your other, muted, account, if desired.

If you end up being banned, or IP banned, on the forums, you will stay punished without any chance to set that account free again. Usually getting banned means a serious rule-break, or a series of rule-breaks which led to this. We do not tolerate that and we will not give you another chance.

What does the private message from "Emps World" means

When you get infracted, we usually punish you along with sending you a notification,  to make you aware of what topic/message broke which rule (though that is not always the case, you can get infracted without a notification). This notification comes in the form of a private message here on the forums from Emps Forum.

Thanks for reading,
Emps-World Staff Team.

Guides / Emps-Kit - Version 0.6
« on: September 28, 2014, 03:13:30 am »
Emps-Kit
Bringing the experience to you...

What is Emps-Kit?

Emps-Kit is a calculator which holds information about all of the skill experience rates in Emps-World. This means that you no longer have to find the experience and calculate yourself. The calculator is very simple but is very useful at the same time. The calculator has been designed by Il Pk I using information from the Emps-World Wiki.

When does Emps-Kit get updated?

Emps-Kit is an on-going project, it will never be finished as the experience rates change all the time. When the experience rates change I will be updating them, however this might not happen instantly. When you download Emps-Kit you will be able to see the current version near the bottom, this will tell you if the calculator is up to date, or out of date. Emps-Kit will NOT automatically update, you will have to do this yourself, the current version will simply alert you.

Where can I download Emps-Kit?

The main download link for the Emps-Kit will be located here. However this link will not always stay the same as when I update the calculator I will have to re-upload it. Therefore if you were thinking of bookmarking the link I would recommend bookmarking this topic instead so you can find the link with much more ease. Please note that Emps-Kit is a .exe file, this means that websites do not often allow these to be uploaded, I have bypassed this by storing it inside a .rar file (you can extract it using WinRAR).

Download links can be found at:

Enhancements

Many items provide you with experience boosts of some kind therefore I have added the option to Emps-Kit, however please note this feature may not work as intended. If you do notice any problems with this feature please report them within this topic and I will try to fix them as soon as possible.

Something missing?

As I said previously this is an on-going project which means I will be listening to your feedback to add/update anything which you feel is incorrect or could be an improvement to the calculator. If you do have any feedback please post it within the topic using the layout below:

FAQ and Rules / Forum Rules & Guidelines
« on: September 22, 2014, 03:07:19 pm »
Thank you for reading the Emps-World Forum Community Rules & Guidelines!

Posting in these forums is a privilege which may be revoked at any time without notice, at the sole discretion of the forum moderators and/or administrators.

Emps-World reserves the right to remove any content that they feel does not adhere to the spirit of the game and/or the forums.

Please follow the Emps-World Community Guidelines when participating in our Community. Failure to do so may result in temporary suspension or permanent banning from the Emps-World Forums.

It is up to each one of us to make this Community worth being in! It's like recycling; everyone can do their part. Always strive to be helpful, polite, interested and engaging.

Tips - these are not rules, but merely guidelines to keep you from being ignored:

  • Use the search feature, found in the upper right quadrant of each forum page, to find information on a topic before you post a question. Your fellow community members will greatly appreciate this effort.
  • Newly created duplicate topics of posts may be merged, by the forum moderators, into pre-existing topics covering the same subject matter.
  • Consider posting an introduction of yourself in the Introductions Forum Board - it's a great way to get started and meet other forum members!
  • When you create a new topic, be descriptive in the title. Naming your topic "help!" or "omg..." will not get you as much help as "I am unable to do 'x'" right off the back.

Community Guidelines:

In general, you may post any on-topic material, as relates to Emps-World, in the relevant forum boards, written in a courteous and respectful manner.

1. Respectful Conduct

  • Make a habit of two things - to help, or at least to do no harm.
  • Do not type in all caps, as that is generally considered yelling.
  • Do not bring in-game disputes or drama to the forums.
  • Please post only in the language our forum is running - English.
  • Be respectful of your fellow forumers at all times.
  • We’re not after keyboard warriors here! Do not attack or flame any players, no matter any history you have. It isn’t permitted on the forums.
  • Do not post vulgar or profane content, do not bypass the censor with the intent to offend or shock, do not give inappropriate references to bodily functions, no innuendo’s please; nobody wants to see it.
  • You cannot show a specific player in a negative light, so no naming and shaming.

2. General

2.1. Stay on topic

  • Post content relevant to the forum you are posting in.
  • Do not cross-link to content not relevant to the subject at hand.
  • Topics or posts not relevant to the forum or thread they are located in may be moved or have content deleted.

2.2. Do not spam or troll
    I. This includes:
  • Creating multiple topics or posts on the same subject in one or more forums boards.
  • Excessively communicating the same or similar phrases or gibberish.
  • Posting posts not adding content to the discussion at hand (+1, lol, etc).

If you wish to state that you agree with a previously made statement, please don't just post '+1', but post reasoning as to why you agree with that statement, or make some elaboration upon it. This should be of at least 3 words.

II. Posting with the intent to cause unrest in the Community.

  • Petitions are not allowed. If you would like to see a change made to a game, please post a well-thought out topic in the appropriate suggestions and ideas forum.
  • Read stickied topics and FAQs. They were created to help the users and/or contain vital information, and there's a decent chance that there is a solution for your issue in one.
  • Do not advertise or promote any non-Emps-World content unless the subforum you are posting in was created for that purpose.
  • Do not post any content discussing chat logs, forum private messages, and/or email correspondence with Emps-World staff.
  • Do not copy paste content into your posts. If you have a phrase, or would like your name to appear at the end of all your posts, please use the signature area.

III. Do not post any content discussing disciplinary actions taken against a Community Member, in-game character or clan issues. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Account or billing issues.
  • 3rd party tool abuse issues.
  • Discipline received by Emps-World staff.

3. Inappropriate content

I. Inappropriate content will not be tolerated and will be deleted. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Images, words, statements, usernames, signatures, or links that are, or refer to, sexual, drugs, vulgar, obscene, graphic, profane, defamatory, abusive, hateful, bigoted, violent, threatening, or otherwise offensive subject matter.
  • Thinly-veiled obscenities (using alternate letters/symbols).
  • Flaming, harassment, or verbal attaches intended to belittle, humiliate, defame, threaten, or cause embarrassment to another Community Member, Emps-World, Emps-World Founder, or any of the Emps-World game titles.

II. Material, or links to sites, advocating or discussing illegal activities, both online or offline including, but not limited to:
  • Cheats
  • Hacks
  • Trojan horses
  • Viruses
  • Malicious programs
  • Abusing illegal drugs

III. If you would like to report any posts within the Emps-World forums to a moderator, please use the "Report to moderator" feature within the forums.
  • The Report button is labeled "Report to moderator" and can be found at the bottom right of the post that you wish to reports.
  • The Report feature is to be used ONLY for reporting objectionable content and is not to be used as a method of communicating with moderators for other reasons.

IV. Any reports of in-game violations should be directed to the appropriate board.

4. Images
  • Images must be hosted remotely as we do not allow direct uploads to these forums.
  • Images must adhere to all Community Guidelines.
  • Images found in violation of the Community Guidelines will be deleted.
  • Please, for the sake of our users without broadband, do not post large images or quote images in replies.

Avatars and Signatures
  • All images placed in the avatar or signature areas must adhere to the community guidelines.

5. Personal Information

I. Do not post personal information including, but not limited to:
  • Full name
  • Home Address
  • Email addresses
  • Telephone numbers

II. All personal information seen by a moderator or admin will be removed

6. Bypassing Moderation/Filters

  • Not heeding, or ignoring, admin/moderator requests or warnings will lead to actions against your forum account.
  • Reopening topics closed by a moderator will lead to actions against your forum account.
  • Any attempt to deliberately circumvent the world filter will lead to actions against your forum account.
This includes the use of alternate letters or symbols, abbreviations, punctuation, ASCII text, images, or other methods to convey the meaning of the filtered content.
  • If deemed necessary by Emps-World forum staff, Community members found responsible for offensive posting or attempts to circumvent the Community Guidelines may be suspended or permanently banned.
Any attempts to circumvent a suspension or ban by posting from another account, or having someone else post on your behalf will result in further disciplinary action for all parties involved.

7. The Moderator Team

  • Moderators are to be respected at all times. Even if they are "outside of their jurisdiction", they are still distinguished forum users and disrespect towards them will not be tolerated.
If you feel that a moderator is acting inappropriately, do not make posts about it, or attempt to take justice into your own hand. PM the appropriate community liaison (Thomy) and he will take the appropriate actions.
  • Backseat Moderation - Do not expect an instantaneous response from the moderators. Moderating the forums is not their entire life. Report a topic once, and wait for a moderator's action. If 24 hours have passed from your original report and you feel that it has not been taken care of, you may report the post/topic again.

8. Account Penalties

  • The forum moderators shall have full discretion to address any behavior that they feel is inappropriate, which includes, but is not limited to, failure to abide by the Community Guidelines.
  • If a player is found to have engaged in inappropriate behavior or violated the Community Guidelines, they will receive one or more Account Penalties against their forum and/or game account including:
         I. Be given a warning - each warning will raise the user's warning level 5%-10%. When a user's warning level reaches 100%, they will automatically be banned.
II. Having a "Moderator Preview" requirement temporarily or permanently attached to their forum account. This will cause all new posts created by the forum account holder to be invisible to the general community until individually approved by a forum moderator.
III. Be temporarily suspended from the forum.
IV. Be permanently banned from the forum.
  • Depending on the severity of the infraction, Emps-World reserves the right to block access to the forums for any length of time up to and including account closure.
  • If your account is suspended under these circumstances, you may lose access to your forum account for the duration of the suspension and/or the balance of any prepaid period, without any refund.
  • Repeated, or severe, violations of the Community Guidelines will result in a permanent banning from the forums.
  • Emps-World reserves the right to evaluate each incident on a case by case basis.

A mention of our Community's bad word filter/censor:

While certain words may not be offensive to you, please be considerate of the fact that those same words may have a completely different meaning and effect on someone else, or could be used in a harmful or hateful manner. Additionally, words that are primarily used to belittle, humiliate, defame, threaten, cause embarrassment, are sexual, suggestive in nature, vulgar, obscene, graphic, profane, defamatory, abusive, hateful, bigoted, or otherwise offensive, may also be added to our bad word filter on an on-going basis as they are seen to be used in a negative manner.

Thank you for cooperation,
Emps-World Staff Team

Suggestions & Ideas / What not to suggest
« on: September 19, 2014, 07:33:06 am »
This is a list of suggestions that we received over and over again during the time. We are well aware of them and some of them may come, some of them won't ever come. Repeating a suggestion won't make these updates any quicker.

Please consider your idea well and think if it could be realistic within Emps.

Also, please check this list before posting a topic in this section:

  • More Moderators/Administrators - The Staff team is always looking for more additions, so please do not suggest to have more staff members, or suggest specific players that you think are suitable for the position.
  • Donator Items - Please do not suggest to add more (custom) donator items. If developers decide to add more of them in the future, then they will.
  • Other payment methods for donating - It is too expensive and will drive up the donator prices a lot to be just as profitable. Will not come.
  • Older graphic Versions - Emps will not revert to older versions. We updated to new ones, and wouldn't re-update to old ones, that'd be an useless downgrading process. This includes older game versions and different worlds dedicated to a nostalgia version of the game.
  • Lootshare - This may or may not come, no need suggesting it over and over.
  • Summoning - This may be a future update, please stop suggesting.
  • Dungeoneering and Dungeoneering items (i.e. Chaotic, Primal, etc) - They may come, they may not. Please stop suggesting.
  • Voting - We have had it in the past. More details on the wiki page about voting.
  • OSRS features - Features from Old school RS, including but not limited to: OSRS bosses, minigames, pets and items. Emps-world is it's own server, and since osrs is developing their own features, so will we. We might interpret OSRS features in an unique way for Emps World if deemed suitable, but please do not copy their features to suggestions.
  • Double XP weekends - were removed due to unbalanced player activity, which caused peaks on weekends. Will not return.

FAQ and Rules / In-game Rules
« on: September 18, 2014, 07:06:18 am »
In-game Rules and Guidelines

The in-game rules were updated on 18/11/2014 and shall be enforced immediately thereafter.

If any rules are broken, the punishment depends on the severity and repeat offenses:
  • Generally you will first receive a warning, or multiple;
  • Then you may be muted - which means all chatting privileges are revoked;
  • Eventually, you may be temporarily banned, meaning you cannot access the in-game account at all for a brief period of time;
  • Or even permanently banned, meaning you cannot access the in-game account at all.
  • In some cases you may be banned from Emps on all accounts and future accounts.

If you see a user breaking the rules, use the forums function 'Helpdesk' with the appropriate department 'Report a User' and report the rule breaker in further detail, with evidences of the rule break, like a screenshot or a video.

Respectful Conduct
  • Make a habit of two things - help, or at least, don't cause any harm.
  • Please do not type in all caps, as that is generally considered yelling/spamming.
  • Do not spam, this is generally very annoying to other players.
  • Bullying in the game is NOT permitted.
  • Racist, offensive and sexist comments are not permitted.

The Emps-World Staff Team
  • Moderators and administrators of the game are to be respected at all times. Even if they are outside of their jurisdiction, they are still distinguished Emps-World users and disrespect towards them will not be tolerated.
  • If you feel that a moderator is acting inappropriately, do not make posts about it, or attempt to take justice into your own hand. PM one of the appropriate community liaison (Staff Manager preferably) and they will judge on any inappropriate actions.
  • Do not expect an instantaneous response from all the moderators and administrators. Moderating the game is not their entire life and they might be busy with something else. Unspecific requests, questions about merchanting and unrespectful/private questions might not be answered.

Inappropriate activity - If in doubt as to whether something is suitable, contact a moderator or administrator first!

I. Offensive language will not be tolerated and will be punished.
  • While certain words may not be offensive to you, please be considered of the fact that those same words may have a completely different meaning and effect on someone else, or could be used in a harmful or hateful manner.
  • Additionally, words that are primarily used to belittle, humiliate, defame, threaten, cause embarrassment, are sexual, suggestive in nature, vulgar, obscene, graphic, profane, defamatory, abusive, hateful, bigoted, or otherwise offensive, must be avoided on an on-going basis as they are seen to be used in a negative manner.
  • This includes, but is not limited to: Statements, words, usernames that are, or refer to, sexual, drugs, vulgar, obscene, profane, defamatory, abusive, hateful, violent, threatening, or otherwise offensive subject matter.
  • Harassment, or verbal attaches to be belittle, humiliate, defame, threaten, or cause embarrassment to another Emps-World Player, Emps-World, Emps-World Founder, or any of the Emps-World game titles.
  • Flaming or disputing a rude or vulgar way with other players will not be tolerated.
II. Players should not cheat or indulge any dishonest behaviour.
  • This includes, but is not limited to: Use of third party programs or exploit of bugs. Any use of bots or third-party software will be greatly punished.
  • Knowingly exploiting a bug is not tolerated. If by any chance you find mistakes or bugs in the Emps-World gameplay, report them on the appropriate board (Bug Reports).
  • Encouragement of other players into rule breaking is not permitted and both players will receive punishment.

Advertising other websites
  • Advertising other websites are not allowed. No links may be posted.
  • This includes, but is not limited to any non-Emps-World related businesses, organizations, websites, or forums.
  • Advertising third-party websites for Emps-World that are not hosted by Emps-World is not permitted. This includes fanwebsites made by Emps-World players, websites that require your Emps-World username and password to log in.

Regarding Emps-World accounts or goods
  • The Emps-World player accounts are created for their own purpose, and are not to be given to other players use, free or paid.
  • Giving away accounts or asking for an account is not allowed.
  • Sharing or trading an Emps-World account with somebody else (family, friends, anyone else) is not advised!
  • The Emps-World gameplay goods are for inside marketing and benefits.

Impersonating a user/staff member - Impersonating Emps-World users or staff members is not permitted.

Moderator Note: Emps-World staff members can be differentiated from regular players by their game crown, which is different according to their titles (Moderators have silver crowns / Administrators have yellow crowns). They may hide these crowns from players, but will always show it when it is needed for moderating actions.

Security
  • Account, password, bank PIN or trade scamming attempts are not permitted!
  • This includes, but is not limited to: Asking for or providing personal information such as full names, home address, e-mail address, ages, telephone numbers, bank details, personal pictures.
  • Discussing, planning or advocating illegal activity of any kind.
  • Do not share your private information with somebody you meet online, no matter how trustworthy or honest they seem.

Moderator Note: Private information of other members must NOT be released without their permission.

  • Threatening - Threatening, such as banning, is not permitted! This is not limited to just hacking and banning threats.
Moderator Note: The Emps-World staff team is reserving the right to threaten users if needed, without further consequences.

Scamming
  • Always make sure you prevent getting scammed by checking the trade or stake carefully.
  • Please remember not to enter your login information to a website resembling these forums unless the url begins with www.Emps-World.net or http://forum.Emps-World.net/
  • Users may send various scam private messages or game chat messages. These PMs link the receivers to a website closely resembling the forums or Emps-World website, but this website infact logs the information put in so that the owner can steal said members' Emps-World accounts.
  • Do not loan your items to anyone, it always comes with the risk of being scammed.
Moderator Note: If you receive one of these PMs, please take a screenshot of it, and send a link to this screenshot to any available moderator. They will take appropriate action.

Repercussions

Failure to follow the aforementioned rules above may result in your account being banned from Emps-World. In some cases, the ban will be temporary, sometimes in combination with a skill stat reset. Repeat offenders may receive a permanent ban, and some cases may result in a permanent ban immediately.

  • Offensive language - Offensive language, including racist and sexist comments and general offensive language may be punished with a (temporarily) mute on your account.
  • Autoing - Using an automated script, macro, or any type of third-party software in order to generate specific game benefits is forbidden. This includes, but is not limited to autotalking and autoclicking. Anyone suspected for botting will receive a skill reset (if a skill was autoed) and a temporarily or permanent ban if repeat offender.
  • Scamming - We have no tolerance for people who try to take other users' assets with get-rich-quick schemes, promises of rare items, or deceptive exchanges. Running any type of scam, including but not limited to trade scams, gambling, 'fake' merching or stake scams, is strictly prohibited.
  • Hacking - We define it as unauthorized access to another user's account. This includes accessing an account that does not belong to you, or profiting from items taken from a hacked account. Attempts to hack, such as trying to obtain another user's password, will also lead to your account being banned.
In case of hacking due to voluntarily account sharing of the original user, both users will be punished for account sharing and no items will be returned.
  • Offgame trading - buying or selling Emps-World goods or accounts for non-Emps-World related goods or accounts (or vice versa) is not allowed.
  • Advertising - any attempt to advertise or promote any non-Emps-World content is strictly forbidden and will result in a permanent account banishment. This includes, but is not limited to non-Emps-World related businesses, websites or other private servers.
  • Impersonating - Any attempts to act like another player or staff member is not allowed. You can face a temporarily or permanent ban for this.
  • Bug abuse - Using a bug to your own benefit is strictly prohibited. All items, experience or other benefits gained will be deleted and your account will be temporarily or permanently suspended. This includes but is not limited to: glitching, noclipping, duping. You can report bugs at the Bug reports forum board, however if the bug can be exploited do not post it publicly but pm a staff member!
  • Official clan chats (Emps-World) - Only permitted language is english.

Moderator Note: Be aware that if your account is banned, you will no longer be able to access your Emps-World account, items or skills that you worked for, nor are you eligible for any Emps-World 'extra' benefit that you might have purchased on your suspended account.

Circumventing punishments
  • Not heeding, or ignoring, admin/moderator requests or warnings will lead to actions against your account.
  • If deemed necessary by Emps-World staff, community members found responsible for offensive activity or attempts to circumvent the rules may be suspended or their punishment might be extended.

Failure to comply with these rules and guidelines may result in disciplinary action and ultimately the termination of your Emps-World account. Your use of Emps-World is also subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the Terms of Use.

These rules are non exhaustive and it is ultimately up to the staff members to decide.
