Hi,

I've made quite some interesting changes to the game today. First of all thank you very much for giving me feedback in the Player Survey thread! Most changes for today have directly resulted from your feedbacks.

Summing it all up in a list:
  • Guardian Angel ability added. Talk to Brother Althric in Edgeville Monastery for more information!
  • K'ril Tsutsaroth now drops battle robes. They are the level 75 magic counter part for Bandos and Armadyl.
  • Overall low alchemy and high alchemy gold values increased by a lot (more than general store value!).
  • Barrow item reward chance doubled.
  • Smithing and Agility xp rates have been doubled. We aim to have less double XP weekends and to have the xp rates fair in general. This is why we're now adjusting too low xp rates for certain skills. The xp rates for smelting bars are even *4 now, rather than *2.
  • All ornament kits can now be removed from their upgrades to get the original item back plus the ornament kit.
  • A client issue causing disconnects was fixed. (Some of you were suffering from this on 13th of November)
  • Overall medium and low level monster drops overhauled. Beginners should gain money much easier now.
  • Low and High alchemy can no longer be cast on untradable or destroyable items.
  • Fight pits minigame was fixed. You're now able to attack your opponents.
  • Slayer points rate has been increased by 50%.
  • Fire cape bonuses buffed to keep up with the competition of skillcapes and the max cape.
  • Ava's accumulator combat bonuses buffed.
  • Wizards east of Barbarian now drop robe skirt (g) and (t).
  • Monks in Edgeville Monastery now drop monk robes. Moreover, monk robes give +11 prayer in total. Making them valuable items for losing less prayer points.
  • Dropping items no longer closes interfaces.
  • Robin hood hat ranged accuracy changed to 3 and ranged strength changed to 3. (This change was made due to the robin hood hat being better than the armadyl helm offensive wise)
  • Right-click options added to Meteora and the Dark Mage for even quicker spellbook changes.
  • Dragon platebody defence bonus increased.
  • Upgraded dragon armour (g) and (sp) now gives additional strength bonus too.
  • Bandos and Armadyl chest and legs give more strength bonus.
  • God staves can now only autocast their respective spell. (Flames of Zamorak, ... ) They can be used with every spellbook and are now 1h weapons.
  • Smoke demon 90 Slayer requirement removed. Now only 1 person with 90 Slayer is needed to enter the room and everybody may damage him.
  • Rod of Ivandis total charges doubled and total repair prices doubled.
  • Rod of Ivandis models updated. It now looks like an armadyl battlestaff.

Due to the increased xp rates for smithing and agility I've now disabled double experience rate for non-combat skills. Free member remains active for the entire weekend though.

Please also bear in mind that some of the updates require a client restart. You're not forced to do so but some changes will only be seen after this update has taken place. :)

Hi,

I'm posting this thread to ask everybody a question. Please be honest and appropriate. Also try to be objective and not to be emotional about losing items in the past.

Lately, we were wondering what caused the decline in Emps-World. We've lost on average 60 players a day. The statistics currently show an average online player count of 160 players. Two weeks ago this value was at 220! (Averaged over 24 hours)

The reason for this thread is simple, I want to find out why so many people have left Emps-World over the past 2 weeks. We've made up some theories:
  • The new openGL client was too complicated to download in the first week. Thus some people couldn't get it to load and quit the game for good.
  • Double XP and free member was disabled.
  • The new client is lagging for some people? I cannot confirm this, it's just a theory!
  • Being stuck ingame + the update of an afk kicker might also have had an impact.

I hope to receive some honest feedback. If you're enjoying the changes that we've maded lately, also let us know this. Feedback is always important, no matter if it's negative or positive. It gives us the option to make a change.

Hi,

I'm proud to announce the distribution of 12 rare items in Emps-World. This is a one time procedure, there will never be more than 4 of each individual items in the game! Following items will be added:
  • 4x Bunny Ears
  • 4x Bowsword
  • 4x Lantern

They are all rares from our classic version of the game. We'll be having events, challenges and even auctioneers in which you can win or purchase one of these rare items. The distribution of the items is going to happen via 4 people, one of them including myself. Each of us has 1x Bunny ears, a Bowsword and a Lantern, which we'll be giving away.
  • Thomy: I'll have an auctioneer running on Saturday the 15th of November, 6:00pm GMT+0. (Don't know your timezone, check out this site: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/gmt-converter/) My auction house is going to be Entrana. You can get there by typing ::wedding. Please bear in mind that this is going to be a huge event and that it's much appreciated to reduce your typing there to a minimum! We'll be very strict at the event with chaotic typers.
  • Mary: I'll do some events in which I will reward someone with one of the items. These can include but are not limited to: Hide 'n Seek, Duel arena tournament (Friday 4pm GMT +0) and the ultimate champion of a Fight pits event some time this week.
  • Es Dexter:I sold a lantern to Hell skyline, not sure what i'm going to do with bunny ears and bow-sword.
  • Eddie1408: I will host multiple duel tournaments with a high entrance where the winner gets a rare of his choice til none is left. However people who do not trust their luck and want to buy one of the oldschools can pm their offer via forums!


The items/gold we might receive for selling/staking the rares, will be put to good use in event rewards!

Hi,

I've got some important updates ready for today. I'll start off with a client update that should increase the overall performance for fixed screen client versions. Multi core processors (which 99% of you have anyway) should also run the emps client faster now. There are also some minor bugfixes in the client.

The other updates are about the server:
  • Normal magic spellbook has received a buff. All spells are hitting higher. Fire wave has the same maxhit as ice barrage now.
  • God staves now autocast their spells. (Zamorak staff: Flames of Zamorak, ... )
  • Overall accuracy has received a buff. You should find yourself hitting more often now. (In our tests we found that this has buffed magic enormously, you might give it a try now! :) )
  • WildyWyrm's defence level was lowered. It should now be beatable without a huge team.
  • Overall autocasting code reworked. It's now behaving the same as melee and range. Autocasting has the same speed as a shortbow and eating will now delay autocasts too.
  • Higher level staves now give you the chance to preserve all runes when casting a combat spell. The chance to preserve runes depends on the staff's magic requirement. For an ahrim's staff, which requires level 70 magic, it would be 35%. (It's just level / 2 and you got the chance in %)
  • Ahrim's staff, Rod of Ivandis, void knight mace and Dragon staff do no longer require Attack levels to be worn. They can be equipped with 1 Attack.
  • Barbarian village has received some noob assistance. This includes findable items on the ground and the ability to fish trouts at level 1 now. (Originally they required level 10 fishing)
  • The trade requirement for new accounts was removed. They can now immediately trade others without having to complete Barbarian Assistance quest or have 200 total.
  • Crafting bowstrings now requires level 1 Crafting and thus can be done by anyone.
  • A bug was fixed where you couldn't see dropped items when logging in next to them. (Providing the items were seen globally by everyone)
  • A lot of invisible, unpassable spots are now passable. A famous example would be invisible blockades in Edgeville before entering the wilderness or in the middle of Barbarian Village.
  • The dragon pickaxe special attack now requires 25% instead of 20%.
  • Highway mans are no longer aggressive.
  • Dragon pickaxe now mines gem rocks faster than rune pickaxe.
  • Dragon claws max hit buffed a little bit.
  • Berserker necklace can now be enchanted by using the onyx enchant spell on an onyx necklace. A berserker necklace increases hits of every obsidian weapon by 10%.
  • Ancient freezing spell bind durations changed to 5-10-12-15, ice barrage having 15 seconds bind.
  • The Grim Reaper has left us, along with random Skull drops.

Hi,

I've made some changes today. Please bear in mind that most changes require a client restart. That's needed because the client has to update itself. If you don't update your client you may not be able to use all the updates. All the changes are listed below:
  • All teleports can now be used until wilderness level 20. This includes teletabs and ring of life!
  • Enchantment spells and superheat no longer use runes when casting them on non-jewellry.
  • Teleports no longer use runes when you are teleblocked or do not meet the level requirement.
  • Experience Gained is now togglable.
  • Firemaking no longer allows you to clip through walls.
  • Aubury has decided that you are allowed to right-click him and pick 'Teleport'.
  • Dragon claw xp bug fixed. You're now only gaining xp for what you really hit.
  • Magic has its cast experience removed. The gain was so minor that it was only confusing.
  • Group Teleport Ice Plateau was removed from the game. The spell wasn't actively used and was only used for scamming purposes.
  • Zooming in/out is now possible when interfaces are open.
  • Dragging interfaces code reworked. It should now work properly. Just make sure you're not moving interfaces too fast.
  • Brawling gloves functionality has been added to the game. They are giving you 50% xp bonus in a certain skill. What do you think that they will be good for? :) (They are degrading. So no worries, this won't give you a permanent boost!)
  • Flickering in interfaces at the Classic client mode has been fixed.
  • Dragon pickaxe has received a special attack usable on rocks! You can use it 5x to instantly mine a rock.

I've made a little client updated, which is displaying for 2 seconds how much experience you've gained. You need to restart your client for this update to appear!

To clarify things, I've taken a screenshot:


Do you like this? Is it more annoying than helpful? It's currently enabled by default. If it's annoying to see how much experience you are gaining, I'll add an option to toggle it off.

Hi,

Today I've fixed a lot of bugs in the game. I've made a list with the most important and bigger bugfixes.
  • An XP counter has also been implemented! You now see how much xp you gained according to the number next to your minimap
  • You can now drop your items while being in combat inside the wilderness. On the other hand, all dropped items in the wilderness are now instantly visible to everyone! (This does only apply for items that you drop from your inventory. Items you've pked will remain invisible for 2 minutes)
  • Flashing arrow now appears on minimap. This is a temporary solution, the real fix will look better! (Client restart required)
  • All glory amulets now have appropriate bonuses
  • Skillcapes have received bonuses
  • Fighter torso has its strength bonus doubled. It's now a real power armour platebody.
  • Dragon claws have their strength nerfed but their accuracy buffed. The aim of this is to make them less effective on pures and let them hit something on mains too.
  • Overall monster drops have been changed. The changes are minor. In general you should find more wealth by fighting weaker monsters.
  • Sea turtles now correctly heal 21.
  • Farming experience rate on trees have been changed.
  • GWD doors have been fixed. Bug abusers can no longer shoot through them.
  • Overall monster defence reduced a bit.
  • Dark beast, Jad and Gorak defence was lowered even more. Time to get a fire cape! :)
  • Demon death animation fixed.
  • K'ril Tsutsaroth has his defence level decreased but his magic level increased.
  • Dragonhide vambraces and chaps have received little defence bonuses.

Of course there are lots of other minor fixes. But these are hardly noticable.

Hi,

I've made some changes today. They are all listed below:

  • Enchanting rings no longer gives a bugged animation
  • Loading the worldmap 'should' work now. Please restart your client and check if it's working. I've only tested it on my computer so I cannot be sure about all others. :)
  • Warped terrorbirds have been nerfed
  • About 15 revenants have been removed from their cave. Moreover, they now have higher defence and heal if they fall below 60 HP. On the other hand, the salve amulet now works vs them. It's highly recommended to use that amulet!
  • The red '0' has been fixed for Private chat standing on 'Off'. It now correctly displays the red 'Off'.
  • Skulls that have previously been traded can now be banked and will turn into skulls that can be handed in to Grim Reaper. (If you can't use your skulls, bank them and withraw them in UNNOTED form)
  • God capes now have bonuses
  • Partyhats now have bonuses
  • Dragonplatebody now requires 60 defence and has bonuses
  • Void has received an accuracy buff
  • Void Range has received a damage buff
  • Overall coin drops have been increased
  • 'Invalid Appearance' error message has been fixed. Still having it? Restart your client!
  • Barrow armour now degrades much slower. This update has silently gone live a week ago, mentioning it now!
  • Slayer point and xp system changed. The slayer master doesn't count as much anymore as it did before. You still get the same amount of xp! Furthermore, you get more slayer points now but less points for boss tasks.

Hi,

The OpenGL client has now received the fixed screen mode. I never knew that there was such a demand for this mode and am sorry that some of you had to wait that long. Nonetheless I'm now releasing the fixed screen beta. It's a little bit bugged, some clicking areas are off. Though no big problems. I'll fix these tiny issues tomorrow. Don't want you guys to have to wait longer for it! :)

How to access it? Restart your client and click on the fixed screen mode icon at your game settings.

Hi,

I'm making this thread to give a quick guide on how to fix errors with using the game client. If you can't get your client to work, feel free to post here or ask the community for help!

  • I can't see some models (players, monsters, items, etc.) in-game.
    Restart your client and/or reinstall the game: Reinstall Emps-World.

  • My client is stuck at loading the game.
    Reinstall the game: Reinstall Emps-World.

  • My client says "Error Connecting"
    Download the latest client here.

  • Client is acting weird. All text is white.
    Try out the 'Classic' mode, that should work fine!

  • The client is not starting at all.
    Please make sure you open Emps-World with java. If you cannot get it to work, try the web version here.

  • I get the following error:

Hi,

Today I'm proud to announce the largest update that we've ever had! :D I've got a lot of stuff ready... so sit back and read through it, there are a lot of things you may like. The update consists of 2 big parts and a small list of changes:
  • Combat Bonus System Rework
  • OpenGL Client
  • Game Changes


1. Combat Bonus System Rework

Why am I doing this? Well, lately I've tried to balance combat but it never really worked out. Range and Magic always had other bonus systems than melee had. The aim of this update is to unite the bonus system to one and the same. I'm also introducing an armour tier system. That means the higher the level requirement of your armour/weapon is the higher the bonus become. It's now easy to choose your armour. The higher the level requirement, the better it is! Basically all item bonuses have been changed, I'm not going to list them here, just try it out! :)

This new bonus system is also taking care of the combat triangle in form of defence bonuses:
Melee beats Ranged. Ranged beats Magic. Magic beats Melee.

Furthermore, I've changed the types of bonuses that exist. They are now divided into 3 categories, which exist for Melee, Ranged and Magic respectively:
  • Attack Bonuses
  • Defence Bonuses
  • Strength Bonuses

To give you a better impression of what I mean, here's a screenshot:


Your attack bonus increases your hit accuracy.
Your defence bonus increases the amount of blocked hits
Your strength bonus increases your max hit.

Stab, Slash and Crush bonuses were removed, they are now united in one Melee Bonus!


Ugh Why? This sucks? It's new, I hate it!

Yet this system is an attempt to fix the current combat mess. I'm presenting a system that is equal for all 3 combat styles. Making it easier for you to see how much damage you deal or how much defence bonus you have against your foes! The aim of it is also to end the melee era and make Range/Magic viable too. Let me suggest that you try this out for a week and give me your opinion on it afterwards.




2. OpenGL Client

Beta Users: Delete your client and download the new one ^

It's finally there! Some of you have already tested the beta but it's going live now. I've fixed all the issues that were listed on the forum and it should be fully usable now. The most important thing to mention is, that you won't be online for minutes anymore. The maximum account your account can be online, in case you disconnect, is 5 seconds. This is increased to 20 seconds inside the wilderness to avoid people from fleeing their deaths! (We've had a lot of reports on those) I'm now also ending the support for the webclient, it's been removed. Please don't worry about this, the desktop client will now run on any machines with Java installed, just like the webclient! (I've fixed it all)

Not much to say about the graphics, here it is:



What's Different?

This client is now utilizing your graphic card. Meaning that you have a much higher fps rate in general. (fps = frames per second) In the end it also allows us to work on nice, new updates. Such as shadows, particle effects, etc... I hope that I can present you some of these in the near future! :)


Ugly new Client!

You ugly little...! Don't worry, you can load up the old client by just pressing 's' while the Loader is starting: (I was just kidding, if you prefer the old client, feel free to use it!)

3. Game Changes:
  • Slayer helm has lost its melee stats. Now gives +10% damage boost on task monsters.
  • GWD minions are now all clippable by bosses. You can no longer safespot the bosses by their minions. Their melee max hits have also been reduced to 30. Same counts for smoke demon champion.
  • Duel arena now has decent viewing spots. (The top floor level is now completely walkable) Furthermore, leaning works there too.
  • Ancient ice spells now bind your enemies for 3, 5, 8 and 10 seconds. They are supposed to be damage spells, not binding spells. On the other hand, magic protection no longer reduces the duration of binds!
  • Your last joined clan chat is now being saved.
  • Seercull and dragon arrows have been changed to level 70 Ranged.
  • Ring of Stone is now a combination of berserker, archer and seers ring.
  • Skulgrimen has run out of fremennik helms. He's no longer selling any. (They are now only obtainable through pest control)
  • Drop rate of seercull and climbing boots has been reduced, however, uncut onyx drop rate has been increased on mutant tarns.
  • Amount of slayer points gained was lowered by a lot.




EDIT: Since some of you were having troubles with the client or still have, I've enabled double XP and free member for today. Moreover, we won't have any double XPs during November. Idk yet about December! :)

Update Notes / Updates 20/10/2014 - New Accuracy/Defence Formulas

Hi,

I've updated the way how accuracy and defence formulas work. Armours will now count more than they did before. Wearing one will now actually be worth it!

For those of you who're interested in the maths: The accuracy/defence formula befor was levelĀ² + bonus, whereas it now is level * bonus. You're now achieving your maximum accuracy/defence with the best weapon and best armour rather than just having the highest level! (This isn't final yet, it may still require some balancing!)

Furthermore, double XP and free member have ended. Thanks for participating in this weekend with 600+ players online! (New record)

Hi,

I'm proud to announce that our new client that I've been working on for almost a month now, is getting into beta phase! I've been testing it for a long time and tried to optimize it as much as I could. (We're still planning to optimize it even more!) It's finally ready! :D

Please bear in mind that this is a beta client, so bugs may occur!!

Let me know how well it performs. You can check your fps with ::fpson / ::fpsoff. Also, if you find any bugs on it, post them in this thread! (Only visual bugs please)

Hi,

I've lowered monster's attack power a little because most of them were too strong. Furthermore, dragons are now als fearful enemies, you shouldn't figh them without an anti dragon shield or dragonfire shield anymore!

Moreover, an early double XP and free member weekend is starting! :)

Hi,

Quite a lot for today, huh? I've reworked range and magic maxhits! They are adjusting better to melee now. Again a little list for all the changes.
  • Magic maxhit scaling off your magic level now. Spells give a base damage, so it's still worth using higher level ones!
  • Spell bonus removed from staves/wands/croziers. Normal casting hits as much as autocasting now.
  • Seercull & Dragon arrows are now level 70 ranged and have their maxhits improved accordingly.
  • Bows & Arrows are now in general stronger. (higher hits)
  • Dragonhide parts now have equal defence bonuses.
  • Karil was buffed, slightly better than black dragonhide now.
  • Void melee is now hitting more than full bandos.
  • Metal dragons and KBD have stopped their havoc and are now hitting way less on dragonfire shields!
  • Dragon darts have been added to barrow chest and barrow item rewards are significantly less common from the chest.


The ranged/mage changes will be tested a day from now on and we might tweak them again. Yet these changes are not final and are an attempt to flaten out the differences between melee and mage/ranged.
