General Discussion / Post-update veng explained to you turds
« on: May 14, 2016, 03:52:21 pm »

In both cases the right guy has vengeance activated. In the first scenario the veng doesn't activate because the 60 is a KILLING BLOW. In the second scenario it does activate because the 59 was not a killing blow.

Feedback / Useful commands missing from the in-game commands list
« on: April 23, 2016, 12:45:23 pm »

That's the whole list of commands that you get for typing ::commands in game. IMO it should include ::devon, ::reloadmap and whatever else ''hidden'' useful commands there are. Why? Because those commands are some of the first things people are told to try out when they're having problems with their client (missing models and objects, animation bugs etc.)

Grand Exchange Tips

I've recently some threads reporting ''bugs'' that in reality are features of the Grand Exchange. It seems like some people have very little to no knowledge on how the systems actually works. I have gathered some basic information here that I think should help people to understand how the GE works.

Buyer always wins, seller loses
Buyer always gets the excessive leftover cash of the bargain. What I mean with this is that no matter how high you offer for an item, you will always buy the cheapest one available at the time.

When selling an item, you will NEVER get more than what you asked for your item. If you set your expensive item for sale at 1 gp, you will get 1 gp. ALWAYS. NEVER put expensive items you are not willing to lose for sale at ridiculously low prices even as a joke. I couldn't possibly stress that enough. You will more than likely lose wealth!

Do not trust the base prices

They are never 100% correct. Prices change daily based on supply and demand. If nobody is buying an item for X price, people will eventually lower the price they are selling their items at. This rule also works vice versa. If a lot of players are buying a same item and only a few other players are selling it, they want to keep up with the competition by increasing their offer. You are a fool to think that prices would stay the same for weeks, and you're an absolute idiot if you think moderators and other staff members control the prices (yes, some people actually think so).

The GE base prices can easily be manipulated by rich players if they wanted to do so. This can be achieved by buying or selling large number of items at ridiculously low or high prices. Prices update when bargains are successfully completed. This means that commonly traded items have more up-to-date base prices than items that are traded less often.

If you are unsure of prices, always remember to check the price list by typing ::pricelist in the in-game chatbox or following this link: https://emps-world.net/wiki/Price_list

Resolved Bug Reports / Prices of noted items not adjusting correctly in GE
« on: February 06, 2016, 06:02:30 pm »
See this https://emps-world.net/forum/index.php?topic=15857.0

What he failed to mention is the actual bug: the prices of noted items in GE are not being adjusted correctly since noted and unnoted items have separate IDs. All items are displayed as their unnoted version when browsing through the GE catalog, therefore only unnoted version can be bought. As far as I know, prices update when bargains are successfully completed, so if noted items cannot be bought their price cannot update either.

When trying to sell prayer potions or dragon bones, the base price of noted Prayer Potion is 156 gp and the base price of an unnoted one is 36,3k and for Dragon Bones the prices are 1 gp and 15k respectively.

Pls make it happen already! Of course it would mean their bonuses will be removed, but we would be able to wear amulets and wings simultaneously.  #FashionWorld

Feedback / GE
« on: January 21, 2016, 08:03:15 pm »

Ye. I honestly think it's not working as it should, so let me explain what's wrong with it.

When I put something for sale at a ridiculously low price, like the 1 GP shown on the picture, and if there are numerous buy offers for the same item, I should always get money equivalent to the highest BUY offer. So for example, if there were buy offers at 100k, 200k, 300k, 500k and 1M, I should get 1M cash instead of that 1 GP I put it for sale at.

Currently, if the price I set my item for sale at is less than whatever any of the BUY offers are, I will only get the GP equivalent to the offer I did. I have absolutely no idea what may possibly happen at the other end of the trade, maybe they get the item + all the cash back minus the one GP.

This should also apply vice versa, as it probably does, since I get money back from buying an item with a really high price. When BUYING an item, the system should always make the player get the item with the CHEAPEST price.

More examples:

This prevents selling items quickly for a reasonable price. You HAVE to manually try to find a good price by setting an item for sale at high price, aborting it and lowering it a bit by bit.

In RS, if I wanted to get rid of something fast, I can put an item for sale at 1 GP with absolutely no worries since I know I will always get the highest price possible that any player has offered for the said item.

So, the basic 4 rules of GE:
  • When selling an item while there are existing buy offers for it, it will be sold for the highest available offer at the time (IF sale price < buy offer)
  • When buying an item while there are existing sales, it will be bought for the cheapest price available at the time (IF buy offer > sale price)
  • IF sale price > any of the available buy offers (=the items doesn't sell instantly), it will become a sale and the item can only be sold when it becomes the cheapest sale in GE
  • IF buy offer < sale price (=the items doesn't buy instantly), it will become a buy offer and the item can only be bought when it becomes the highest offer in GE

My grammar probably sucks der cuz I found explaining this surprisingly hard but I hope yall get muh point. Currently the base prices can be manipulated down to oblivion with no effort whatsoever
