Happy birthday friend

Hello friends, I am planning on building a new pc.
- I will mainly use this pc for gaming (e.g. battlefield 1, witcher 3)
- I won't be using it for heavy multi core duties (e.g. editing, modeling, streaming)

I am deciding between a r5 1600 and an i5 7600k build.
I realize the 7600k will have better perormance when it comes to pure gaming, however I think the 1600 will last longer due to future games utilizing more cores. (battlefield 1 already uses like 80-95% of an i5 7600k cpu, at least in the benchmarks I've seen)

Ryzen build:
Intel build:

A list of pros and cons I've found so far.

Ryzen pros
- Cheaper
- Comes with a capable stock cooler which supports a 3.7Ghz OC
- Better performance in basically everything but gaming
- Possibly better performance when games start to use more cores.

Ryzen cons
- Very new, bugs?
- Slightly worse gaming performance

Intel pros
- Better gaming performance
- Very reliable

Intel cons
- More expensive
- Requires Z mobo's, which are also a bit more expensive
- Requires a good cooler, again more expensive
- Worse performance in everything but gaming
- In some benchmarks the lowest 1% of fps were much lower than those of the r5 1600, even though average fps was slightly higher

I plan on gaming in 1080p on a 144hz monitor on high settings for games such as the witcher 3 and low to med settings for fps games.

So please give me some feedback/advices, mainly on the i5/r5 debate but also on the other hardware I picked (GPU, PSU, MOBO and monitor)

Off-Topic / Was just wondering how long you've been playing

Hi there. I don't really play this game anymore but I check on it from time to time and to my surprise I saw a lot of old players/friends coming back to the game recently. So yeah if you're one of them please tell us about your early days/memories in/of this game.

I guess I'll go first.

I created my first account in 2008 or 2009. I can't quite remember the exact year but oh well. One of my friends, Saraboy, recommended the game and I really liked it. Varrock times=best times. Training at abyssal demons and selling their loot to the general store was mad gains back then. After a few weeks or so some of my other friends joined as well and we decided to create range pures. That's when I created Ho0omer. We all had similar names and we had a blast pking.

Couple of months passed, some friends left some stayed. Made new friends, trained my main to like max melee. One day this girl, Anna Kaboom, drops a shit load of items in varrock bank. I picked up 1k super strength potions which went for like 2-3m each back then.

Couple more months passed. Wanted to try out main pking so I started out small with full veracs and a zgs. Zgs/ags had the old darklight special attack animation back then which was cool af. Went pretty well, got qutie good at pking but decided I needed veng. So I basically invented the bursting/barraging Turoths method which was best mage xp in the game back then. After that I really started to pk a lot with both veracs and dh, basically the only 2 pking methods back then. Got really addicted to pking, was like the only thing I did. Xxxxxxxxxx, Saraboy, Gabi and I were probably the best pkers back then. Had lots of fun.

Eventually rewards got added to emps wars shop. Grinded the fuck out of it. Got enough tickets, 89 I believe, to buy an item. Decided to buy a dragon full helm which was like mega rare before it got added to the shop. Should have saved them for void... Sold the helm for like 500m or so which wasn't a lot of money back then. Think I made my first donation during this time too. Bought black wings which sold for like 2.2b. Grinded more castle wars to get void. At this time a lot of people bought sara swords and went to the wildy to 1 item. I decided to take advantage of this. Pretty much no one back then knew that the bgs special drained your targets prayer to 0. Think I pked like 5-10 sara swords which sold for 500-1.5b each. CXouple of years passed where nothing interesting happened really. I pked a shitload of dh sets.

Eventually the home town was changed to falador cuz too many players I guess. Didn't really like it but oh well.

Much time passed again. All I did was pk. Made a shitload of money. Was probably one of the richests in game but never really cared.

Last memory I have of the 'old' game was probably the fun I had playing clan wars. This wasn't too long ago. Probably during the final year of emps-scape, but it was so much fun. Pretty much me and a team of 10 friends vs open cc's like thomys fighting in east falador. Still don't understand why it got removed.

So ye please share your memories :)

So who's gonna play it?

Suggestions & Ideas / Super combat potion

Right now when you boost your strength/defense to 123 with either a zammy or sara brew and drink a super melee potion afterwards your strength/defense will be set back to 118. Can you change this so it doesn't override the boost of brews? So people can bring zammy brews + a super comabt pot instead of bringing both super attack and defense?

Op as fuck. Can hit 80+ in shit gear. Don't have anything else to say; it's just way too strong.

Nerf please. Also nerf it quickly it's ruining pvp atm.

Suggestions & Ideas / Elemental staves and bows with crystals
« on: May 24, 2016, 06:04:06 pm »
It has come to my attention that these upgraded tier 80 weapons are pretty much useless.

First let's discuss the bow because it's the most obvious one.

It has +100 range accuracy and can fire up to dragon arrows. God bows also have +100 range accuracy and can fire up to god arrows which are flat out better. This makes the elemental bow completely useless since it's more expensive (both to purchase and to use) and has worse dps. (unless there are some variables I don't know about, e.g. attack speed)

Now for the elemental staff.

It has +100 magic accuracy and provides unlimited elemental runes. I will compare it to 2 other types of staves; the rod/zuriel staff and the staff of light. When compared to the rod/zuriel staff we notice the stats are identical, however the build in spells of the rod/zuriel staff hit harder than the strongest spell the elemental staff can cast (I assume this is ice barrage)
When compared to the sol it has 8 more mage accuracy whereas the sol gives a bit of defense bonus and prayer. The sol has a 35% chance to cast a spell for free whereas the elemental staff saves elemental runes. The sol also has a special attack which can be useful in some situations. Now you might think that the elemental staff is the better option situations where one uses a lot of elemental runes but this isn't true. You see with the current price of crystals (60m) and of the basic elemental staff (10m) you spend 35m on average when your staff degrades. This means each hit costs 35m/5000=7000. I don't think there is any spell that uses 7000gp worth of elemental runes.

As you can see the staff is outclassed by the rod and zuriel staff when it comes to damage and by the sol when it comes to preserving rune costs.

I suggest to give the t80 elemental staff a small amount of magic strength. Basically enoguh to increase the max hits of spells by 2 maybe 3. This will make it unique and a viable choice in certain situations.

I do not know how to fix the bow though. Perhaps increase its accuracy so it would be mroe accuract than the god bows but it would deal elss damage because it can't fire god arrows.

Thank you for reading and please feel free to post your feedback below.

People can attack the skeletons in edgeville wilderness even when they are under attack by another player. The person will then be in combat with the skeleton and cannot be attacked anymore. It's not really a big deal in edgeville but it might be elsewhere.
