Computers and Technology / C++ Game Tutorial Help

Hi, first post I'm making here in a long time, thought some Emps-players might have some experience on the topic.

I'm looking for good resources for learning the basics of game development, preferably something like the basics for how game engines work and how you build them in C++. inb4 http://lmgtfy.com/?q=C%2B%2B+Game+Development+tutorial, yeah I know. Just wondering if anyone has any good sites/online courses to recommend before I click the first Google link.

Looking to do it as a hobby, nothing too serious like a full game, but could be somewhat fun way to get additional experience to my CS courses. I could also do with similar courses like Java, but I'm more familiar with C++. Note that I'm not good with C++ or even ok to some of your standards, I'm pretty fresh to computer science.

Resolved Bug Reports / Observatory assistant gone

Well, he isn't completely gone; his animation is still there, but he isn't clickable, at least not on my client and thus I'm not able to locate the shooting star without going out looking for it.

And before you ask, yes, I have relogged and restarted the client, it still occurs.

Resolved Bug Reports / Bank buttons overlapping the chatbox

The buttons for the bank are getting priority over the chatbox and is overlapping it:

EDIT:

I also found that if you hover the back window close to the edge of the screen, making the bank window overlap with the border of the screen, the borders and background disappears:

The Grand Exchange is also coming along nicely. With this update I'm implementing a price evaluation system, which monitors item prices. In the very end, the system is going to be an alternative to the price list, which will always be accurate based on the past item transactions.

I would like to suggest to integrate the price evaluation coming with GE into the system that determines what kept when you die. As it is now I assume that the items that are kept are the ones with the highest price in the general store:






Sense has it that you keep the most valuable items, and right now, the valuables aren't always valuable. We all know the general store prices aren't very accurate, to put it mildly. In this example it evaluated dragon platelegs over the abyssal whip, when in reality the abyssal whip is worth 10 times as much on the market. With this information in head, it would be better to use the newly created item values to determine what you keep.

TL;DR: Implement the new price evaluation system into items kept on death.

Resolved Bug Reports / Drops appearing as double, triple

A client-side bug where the items (must be 2 items or more, single item drops I.E unicorn horns from unicorns does not have the bug) appear as double or triple when dropped.

I noticed I'm not the only one by seeing this: http://emps-world.net/forum/index.php?topic=9122
Once one item from the original drop is picked up the bug is gone and drops appear as normal (might be because I just tested it on 2 item drops and only 1 was left).

I tested it with 3 item drops and they appear as triple: http://prntscr.com/6o32k6
I'm yet to test with 4 items, they might appear as quadruple drops.

I deleted and re-downloaded my client yesterday so I doubt it's outdated, nor do I think it is my java as it was also updated yesterday.

First, when I got 99 hunter, it displayed the construction icon, don't know if it only applied to me this one time or if it happens to everyone.

Secondly, the castle wars shop.
I don't know what's supposed to be, but if you click an item in your inventory which is sold in the shop it tells you how much the shop would buy it back for, but once you try to sell it you'll get a message saying 'You cannot sell any items to this shop'. I've only tested it with the items I had at hand, which was Ava's accumulator, Helm of Neitiznot and (unused) Brawling gloves (prayer).

Every time you try to equip a construction skillcape/hood it disconnects you, This goes for all parts, both trimmed and non-trimmed.



Since it is a WIP I suppose it doesn't really matter :)

Nr 1

This bug can only be exploited when a game is in progress.

When you step trough the portal and enter the waiting-room you'll get the option to join the match, this message refreshes itself constantly when you click somewhere else or simply press 'no'.

The actual problem happens when you exit the waiting room. The option to join the ongoing game is still there when you exit like it is here:


If you press 'Yes' you'll technically be in the game as a player, but you're free to do whatever you like outside of CW. Like teleporting to Falador and start trading or fighting other monsters without it affecting the fact that you're still recognized by the server as a participant in the current CW game (look to the left upper corner).




Nr 2

When you minimize your Emps-World client it crashes, I do not know if this problem only occurs for me, but I can provide system, java and client specs if needed. As far as I know everything is up to date.

EDIT: This only happens from time to time and is not guaranteed a crash, it is random.

Nr 3

There are spots around the world, usually at places that are less visited where you can get stuck. An example is the windmill north of Ardougne which doesn't let you gown down to the first floor once you're on the second floor. This however is not a big problem since you can teleport out.

Nr 4
A graphical bug on any entity that displays the entity wrongly. Some examples are trees that are cut down but show them as they are still there as fully grown trees or ores that have been mined but is still displayed as not mined

This is not big deal and it isn't really a problem.

Add subsections in the market section like it was before the server shut down.
I.E subsections like 'selling', 'buying' and 'services'.

This makes the overall manuverability easier and more straightforward to those who use this particular section a lot.
