Emps-World | Jad Guide

Table of contents:
I.   Introduction
II.   Location
III.   Tokkul Exchange Store
IV.   Stats, Inventory and Gear
V.   Monsters and Waves
VI.   Jad
VII.   Reward
VIII.   Extras

I.   Introduction:
Jad is a safe minigame, meaning you will not lose your items if you die. Jad is also a solo minigame, meaning this has to be done yourself and without the help of others. The Jad minigame consists of 63 waves and will take around 3 hours to finish, but you will be able to log out during the minigame and proceed when you log back in. After completing all waves, you will be rewarded with a fire-cape as well as 75,000 tokkul. However, if you do not succeed in making it past wave 63, you will still be rewarded some tokkul for your effort (varies on whichever wave you make it to). Tokkul is the common value of the Obsidian Caves, which is dropped by all monsters outside of the Jad minigame. It can be exchanged in the Tokkul Exchange store (see chapter III for more details).

II.   Location:
There are two ways to access the Obsidian Caves.

Method one - Directly teleporting to the caves by using a Ring of Dueling:
1)   Right-click on your Ring of Dueling and left click “Rub” (highlighted yellow).

2)   An interface identical to the one shown will pop-up in your chat box. Left click on “Obsidian caves” (highlighted white).

This will teleport you to the Jad minigame, as well as using one of your charges from your Ring of Dueling.

Method two – Travelling to the caves via Port Sarim.

1)   Walk to Port Sarim with 30 or more coins in your inventory (south of Falador).

2)   Click “Yes” on the interface which pops-up into your chat box (highlighted white).

3) Walk from the “You are here” point displayed to the circle shown in the image below.

NOTE: Beware of “Snakes”, as they are aggressive (auto-attacking) animals which will poison you if they get the chance to hit you.

4)   You will find rocks at this destination. Left-click on the rocks to climb down them. After climbing down these rocks, there will be a “Cave entrance” east of you. Left click on this entrance to enter the Obsidian Caves.

III. Tokkul Exchange Store:
The tokkul exchange store is located south of the cave, which contains eleven items. This is where you can spend your hard-earned tokkul for items or abilities. To access the store you will need to right click on “TzHaar-Hul-Tel” and click trade, this will open up an interface called “TzHaar Specialities”.

IV. Stats, Inventory and Gear:

Stats:
Considering the Jad minigame isn't an easy challenge, I highly recommend having at least these levels:
  • Range: 80+
  • Defence: 80+
  • Hitpoints: 80+
  • Prayer: 60+
Inventory:
I recommend having 4-6 Saradomin Brew's, 16-20 Prayer Potion/Super Restore Potions and 2-6 Range Potions in your inventory. Here is an image of the inventory I used to kill Jad:

Shown here is the following:
  • 4x Saradomin Brew
  • 6x Ranging Potion
  • 18x Super Restore Potion (it doesn't matter if you use prayer potions instead as they're the same thing).

Gear:
Here I have applied an image of two types of gears, one being expensive and the other being rather cheap. Range gear is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Both gears will be able to finish the minigame, although the expensive gear is recommended.

Expensive gear (recommended):

This image consists of the following equipment:
  • Third-age range coif
  • Third-age range top
  • Third-age range legs
  • Third-age range vambraces
  • Ranger boots
  • Ring of stone
  • Seercull bow
  • Amulet of glory (T)
  • Ava's accumulator
  • 1,000 dragon arrows to be safe (I only used 546 of them, while picking up arrows whenever I had the chance)
OR
  • A god bow with god arrows (zamorak/saradomin) instead of a seercull with dragon arrows.

Cheaper gear:

This image consists of the following equipment:
  • Robin hood hat
  • Black d'hide body
  • Black d'hide chaps
  • Ranger boots
  • Archers' ring
  • Barrows gloves
  • Seercull bow
  • Amulet of fury
  • Ava's accumulator
  • 2,000 rune arrows (this is a very high amount and is just to be safe, you can take less if you wish).

V. Monsters and Waves:
As mentioned earlier, this minigame consists of 63 waves, with the last wave being Jad. The minigame also has a safe spot against melee attacks, which is shown below:

Monsters:

Waves:

NOTE: I have colour-coded both tables to make finding a specific monster a lot easier, as remembering the colours is more simple than remembering names :)

VI. Jad:
Jad is currently one of the hardest monsters in game. If you make a mistake on the last wave, you could be dead in seconds. Jad attacks with all three attack styles. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ranging him from the safe spot shown in Chapter V, as it would be nearly impossible to kill him any other way. You WILL need to switch regularly between magic protection and range protection prayers. I also strongly suggest to use Chivalry (ranged) or Piety (ranged) prayers if your prayer level is high enough and you have a comfortable amount of prayer potions/super restore potions remaining. You will also need to watch Jad's attacks carefully. When he's about to do a range attack, he will stomp on the ground leaving yellow remains. BEWARE, his range attacks are very quick and you will only have about a second to enable the range protection prayer. Magic attacks from Jad are a lot harder to realize. When Jad is about to do a magic attack, he will bring his right foot back into him but he will not stomp on the ground afterwards. Note that his magic attacks come from his body, whereas his range attacks will come from above. Also note that his magic attacks seem to look as if they're in slow motion.

VII. Reward:
After completing the Jad minigame, you will receive a fire cape as well as 75,000 tokkuls (see Chapter III for more information on where tokkuls can be spent). Here is an image of the reward:

As said before if you do not complete the minigame, you will be rewarded with a certain amount of tokkul for effort (varies on whichever round you make it to).

VIII. Extras:
Tips:
  • Try to pick up your used arrows whenever you get the chance, but ONLY when it's safe to do so.
  • To reduce the risk of exiting your safe spot, keep auto-retaliate ON. This way if you are in your spot correctly and get attacked, you'll automatically retaliate without moving or needing to click attack, which may sometimes move you.
  • If you are being attacked by a Tz-Kih, kill them as soon as possible. However if they aren't bothering you, save them till the end of the round and carefully kill them to avoid losing many prayer points.

In case you are still feeling uncomfortable about killing Jad, I have added a video of myself killing him to show you how it's done! :) Enjoy:

Feel free to reply with your opinion on this guide! Also, please point out any mistakes I have made and I'll be happy to fix them.
Thank you for reading! :D
