Update Notes / Re: Updates - May 24th 2016 - A new pet!
« on: May 26, 2016, 11:05:50 am »
adding new (and especially cosmetic) content is a lot less harder to balance than Pk updates, that immediately receive negative feedback about overbuffing or nerfing something (remember d claws tweaks)
moreover new content is usually more welcoming than tweaks to already existing content, especially when you have to be careful about overbuffing or barely tweaking it (first one leading to inbalance, second leading to almost none to zero interest in these updates)

doesn't it mean that the existing content was already implemented the wrong way and/or rushed into the game without thinking about the results and whether its a "balanced" update?

Unfortunately I was not active when most of the updates happened (d claws, tradable void, defenders, etc.)

Best updates I have ever seen. The new new pet! OMG!!!

EDIT:

Emps was known as a pk server and it had probably the greatest pk community back then.

Meanwhile emps is going down the drain and all you care about is adding new useless content such as pets and cosmetic items where literally everyone knows why they got added. Do you think it is not obvious? What will the community think of you when they find out who really is in control of the game?

Lars, one of the most honorable and most experienced emps players of all time is showing you the obvious flaws and mistakes that are in the wilderness and you just ignore him. But I somehow understand it. Why listen to somebody who doesn't earn you any money, right?

This was by far the best server I have ever played until you fucked it up by letting other people control you.

Well, fuck that. Atleast emps currency is still worth something.

Suggestions & Ideas / Runecrafting suggestions
« on: June 11, 2015, 11:54:09 am »
Currently, runecrafting is a bit of a dull skill. People only do runecrafting to get it to 99 and no longer bother trying to make money with it. I have a few things in mind.

Combination runes

Wouldn't it be nice to have all those runes you take with you take up less inventory space? That's exactly what combination runes are all about. They'll combine a few runes into one. As for how they work, let's take smoke runes as an example. Smoke runes are made of air and fire runes. If you only use fire runes for a spell and no air runes, and you only have smoke runes, 1 smoke rune will be consumed per use. If you use a spell with both fire and air runes one smoke rune will be consumed for every air + fire rune.

Set 1:

  • Mist runes (Air + Water)
  • Dust runes (Air + Earth)
  • Mud runes (Water + Earth)
  • Smoke runes (Air + Fire)
  • Steam runes (Water + Fire)
  • Lava runes (Earth + Fire)
Set 2:

  • Elemental runes (Air, Water, Earth & Fire)
  • Catalytic runes (Mind, Body, Chaos, Death, Blood, Nature, Cosmic, Law, Soul and Astral)

Set 2 is a bit special, in runescape these runes are only used in minigames. I have yet to see a game make use of these so I am gonna suggest them (like i've done on a few servers before). These runes reduce the inventory space used on runes to a mere 2, which is great for convenience. Having these act like the other combination runes when making them would be a bit OP though. What I suggest is that when making elemental runes you get 2 out of the 4 you put in and with catalytic runes you get 5 out of the 10 runes you put in. This would balance it out a bit. I would also like set 2 to be members only to create, we need more member features.

The runes would be created at the center of the abyss by using them on the giant glowy orb thing. It would check what runes you have and make combination runes based on it. This shouldn't grant too much runecrafting exp but it should grant some. It should also be 1 combination at a time so that you can't instantly get 99 if you have enough runes. It would be a nice alternative way to level up runecrafting.

Rune & pure essence

Back in the day, there would always be 1-2 people mining rune essence, this is something that is completely dying out. I have a few suggestions for this as well. First of all i'd like a bank inside the rune essence mine. It makes mining so much easier and saves a lot of time you spend doing nothing but walking. Second of all i'd suggest adding more rune essence drops to things like high level slayer monsters. There are currently none that drop any. There are some bosses though, which might need a nerf on rune ess drops if we put them in some slay monster's droptable.

Pure essence is basically the same thing as rune essence, it just gives more exp per craft that rune ess. Why not add these in a noted form to the stardust shop? It would make the shooting star D&D have more rewards and it would give runecrafting a bit more variation. This could also be added to a few droptables but should ultimately be from stars.

Opinions?

Guides / [Skill]Prayer guide
« on: May 24, 2015, 11:13:42 am »

Prayer is one of the most practical skills in the game. It's uses go from boosting your damage output to almost fully protecting you from attacks. In both pvp and pvm prayer is used very extensively. Leveling it up can be a bit tedious however. This guide will tell you how. This guide contains clickable links to the wiki, so feel free to click around. Clicking the prayer icon will take you to the wiki page for it.

Table of contents
  • The advantages of prayer
  • Prayer points
  • Prayer effects
  • Exp rates
  • Training methods
  • Tips & tricks

The advantages of prayer

As said in the intro, prayer has various different effects which help you in combat. These go from simple stat boosts, to full protections. Why should you use these? Because they're a massive factor in fighting efficiently. Let's take protect from melee as an example; if you're fighting a monster that deals a lot of melee based damage, you'll reduce your damage taken by a significant amount if you pray. This could mean more kills, less supply used, and longer trips, thus more efficiency.

Prayer points

It isn't all for free though. Your prayer level is equal to the amount of prayer points you have, and these will drain slowly if you are using any prayers. The rate at which it does depends on what prayers you are using. Prayer points can be restored in various ways, the easiest way is by talking to a healer or praying at an altar, this will restore them back to full. There are also prayer and super restore potions which restore prayer points for when you aren't near one.

Prayer effects

I will now be listing all the various effects you can get with prayer. These will be listed by type, you can not turn on multiple prayers of the same type at the same time. There are a few prayers that this rule doesn't apply to, protect item, rapid heal and rapid restore. You can also use 1 overhead prayer while using another prayer. This is a list of all the prayers by type, prayers in the same table can't be turned on at the same time.
  • Melee boosts

  • Range boosts
  • Magic boosts
  • Defence boosts
  • Overhead prayers
  • Other prayers
Exp rates
There is a whole variety of bones, ranging from really low exp (normal bones) to high exp (dragon and frost dragon bones). If you plan on collecting a certain type of bone, keep in mind the higher prayer exp they give, the more likely it is that they're hard to get.

Training methods

Simply burying all the bones you get from killing monsters is a pretty standard method to level up prayer, however it might be better to collect bones and bury them when there's double exp, or use them with brawlers. Buying the bones is an expensive method, but it is reliable. As far as getting your own prayer experience goes, I recommend the following two things.

Collecting bones

You don't see people camping blue dragons for nothing, they drop dragon bones, which are the second best bones in the game. Blue dragons are the easiest dragons outside of the wilderness, but that doesn't mean you can't kill other dragons. Red, black, brutal and mithril dragons are also great alternatives. Frost dragons beat them all though. I'd recommend killing frost dragons at Neitiznot island if you have high combat stats and at least 65 agility, their bones bury for a whopping 5,625 exp with double and brawlers.

If you don't know how to go about killing frosts, you can find a guide for it here.

If you can't go to frost dragons, I recommend you kill any chromatic dragon.

Pest control

You can also get prayer exp from the pest control minigame. For 100 tickets you can get an exp amount dependant on your level, the higher the level the more exp. This is a great method if you have a lot of pest control tickets, you can get 99 prayer pretty easily using this method. Double exp and brawlers also work on the exp rewards from the minigame.

Tips & tricks

If you collect your bones, don't bury them unless it's double exp, it'll save you a lot of time or money on the bones.
Brawler gloves, which can be obtained from the castle wars minigame give a 1.5x exp boost to prayer as well, this stacks with double exp for a total of 3x exp.

And that's the end of the guide. If you have any improvements to it please post. And if this guide was useful to you feel free to give it a thank.

Feedback / Re: Decrease the defence of bosses already, ffs
« on: February 12, 2015, 09:00:50 am »

Could a good substitute perhaps be the lowering of defence levels, but increasing the amount of HP they have?
I mentioned this months ago, but the reply was that we can't keep changing the combat all the time, also mary added that this would mean rewriting all slayer xps, and that's where it ended. I can't possibly influence it all alone if i'm getting responses that i wanted it this way, yes i did want a change, but this what currently is live, is what i never asked for.
