Videos / Re: Go to school - Real Story - Avenus
« on: August 20, 2015, 02:44:42 am »
Although I don't want to digress from your main message, I am compelled to point out that you're over generalizing your advice.  A backup plan is important for most people, such as people who don't have strong aspirations; however, a backup plan is a burden to those who do have strong aspirations and want nothing more than to achieve them.  If you want to live a safe life, have backup plans; if you want to commit wholeheartedly to your dream, then you can't allow yourself to have a backup plan -- you can't allow yourself to feel safe.

As I've said before, "When soldiers have nowhere to run to - if their bridges have been burned - they fight much harder than they otherwise would have. When you find something that you care about enough, be prepared to burn your bridges."  In other words, if you want to achieve greatness and make your dreams a reality, you have to be willing to put everything on the table, go all in, and leave nothing behind.  When you don't have a backup plan to protect you, you commit to your goal because it's all that you have, and you never hesitate.

Your Plan A should be good enough to handle multiple setbacks; the road to success is full of setbacks, and you need to be prepared for them.  If your Plan A fails, then it wasn't a good enough plan to begin with.  In life you get one shot - one attempt - so if you want to play it safe, that's fine, but don't assume everyone is as easily swayed as you.

It sounds to me like you've just given up; you've given in to the burdens that life throws at you.  As unfortunate as your story is, you came so close to making a comeback in hockey but gave up right at the end, after fighting for so long.

I'm going through the same situation with hockey right now, but I've never given up, and injuries are only motivation to try harder -- to show that nothing can stop me.  If you've lost your passion for hockey and want to live a safe life, that's fine, but if your passion still burns, you've made a big mistake by giving up.  I'd never be able to live with myself had I given up on my dreams because giving up on your dreams is depriving yourself the opportunity to live your one shot at life to the fullest.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Introducing Ironman accounts
« on: August 19, 2015, 06:35:19 pm »
@Ras, the thing with whips is (a) you can't trade them away from your ironman account, so the whip is permanently removed from the economy, and you lose the ability to resell it; (b) it's not significantly better than the readily available dragon scimitar thus provides minimal advantage; and (c) the whip only helps with melee and slayer (through which you'll end up getting a whip either way) -- there are still 17 more skills to be trained that the whip has no effect on whatsoever.  I don't think it's a big deal, especially considering that its existence will increase donations.

For reference, this is how the stats compare:
Dragon Scimitar: +75 atk, +66 str
Abyssal Whip: +87 atk, +79 str

It's a marginal difference that costs €5, or 8-10mil.

I'm not entirely against removing this option, as I don't like ironman accounts not needing to find melee weapons themselves, but there has yet to be a strong enough argument to justify removing the option.

Or just give ironmans free membership? ???
Train thieving on ironman
Lvl 75
Steal ton of high-herb seeds
Drop trade or die in wild to main
???
Profit

Few other examples: Making astral runes, getting weapon poison, getting uncuts from low lvl kalphites. Just too many things that could be freely abused and would hard-crash the prices of things. The ability to use a member ticket on someone else would be a better solution. People could transfer the cash to a non-ironman and buy a ticket and then use it on their ironman.
  • Cannot pickup items dropped by other players or NPC's that were killed by other players
  • Items dropped by an ironman cannot be seen/picked up by anyone else

We've already been through this, Charr, not to mention that your above proposal of "abuse" is in no way abuse, nor would it have any bearing on the economy.  No one in their right mind would waste their time doing what you proposed; there's no worthwhile profit in such a bland and time-consuming method of acquiring items; you'd be significantly better off if you just mined rune essence.  Finally, read my above quote.

Anyways, I don't think free membership should be an option; you should have to either use a member ticket on the account or purchase one.

Great support so far, everyone!

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Dragonfire Armour.
« on: August 17, 2015, 02:06:51 am »
Just throwing this into the discussion as an addition to both Charr's and Kane's suggestions:
  • Armour's requirements are equal to the DFS's requirements (75 defence and 75 strength)
  • Armour's defence bonus is equal to Dragon's, but the armour's attack and strength bonuses are equal to Bandos'
  • Armour's unique set-effect makes it the most effective armour against dragons
    • Armour absorbs dragonbreath (whether damaged by it or not) and heals the player for 15% of his/her total health

Mary, don't worry; this is not you, Mary.

It's a drawing of you, but it's not you!

You know I love you though, Blackbird  :-* I just based this off of your shoutbox discussion from last night.
I don't get it lmao

I saw your shoutbox chat about how female organs grow upon arousal and that its in no way determines whether or not the female is strumpet.  This along with other things mentioned led me to making this revision of my previous "blz 40k" comic.

It is not an accurate depiction of you, but of the image you portray(ed) :P

Honestly, though, these social experiments are unethical, inaccurate, and manipulative.

Don't trust them -- they get more views if their videos shock the public.
