Guides / Tips 'n Tricks for Emps
« on: October 03, 2014, 05:30:27 pm »
Tips 'n Tricks by Mary

This guide covers most unusual things that Emps features, including on how to get certain items, how to make money and nifty tips in general.
I'll add more if I remember more or find some new ones.
Totally worth reading if you feel like you forgot a lot of things, or if you're new to Emps!

Warning, TEXT BLOCK INCOMING

Skills

  • General shops are a source for many tools you need in your adventure, most big cities got one. Specialized shops like the pickaxe shop at falador's furnace will sell you the other things you need.
  • If you wish to have something made (like a fury amulet or a dragonfire shield, but you only have the onyx and/or draconic visage), and you do not have the skill level required, you can ask a high leveled friend or trusted player to do it for you. Moderators are trusted, you can always ask them. Be sure to provide all the materials needed!
  • Check the forums to see if there will be a double xp or free member weekend. These enable you to train skills much faster, and give you access to certain limited skills who are handy or useful to make money with.
  • Making your own runes, potions and food is really a money saver, and it does not require a lot of work and money (those skills level easily and cheap) and most raw materials for making those items are easy to get. For equipment (armour, arrows, amulets and rings) you can better kill monsters than train Crafting/Smithing/Fletching.
  • Go to the Warriors' guild in Taverley to get the Fighter torso and offhand defender weapons in a minigame. Useful items for players who use melee and don't want to spend much.
  • Get the Void Knight equipment from Pest Control if you don't want to spend money but still want some good gear. It might take a while, but its worth it, and you wouldn't want to lose it on death!

Runecrafting
For crafting runes you have to go to the Abyssal Rift, the Zamorak mage at level 7 Wilderness is willing to teleport you there. (Also, lv 90 magic; Ancient spellbook teleport). Be careful, both the road to the mage and the rift itself are Wilderness! (the rift is a multi-area). If your runecrafting level is high enough, you will gain multiple runes for each essence you craft.

Herblore
Get vials of water by filling empty vials on the waterpump in falador near the west bank. You can also bring them to Zaff in varrock or by casting the lunar (members) Humidify spell to instantly fill your whole bag.
Killing monsters like Moss giants will give you plenty herbs to train herblore.
Basic secondary ingredients can be found in the general store.
Werewolves drop both Jangerberries and Wine of Zamorak, commonly used on high level herblore.
You only need level 35 to make Prayer potions, which can be sold for a good price.

Mining
You get 2 ores for each rock mined. You also have a chance to receive gems while mining, you get about 2 to 3 gems per inventory mined.
Start off at the Essence mine (teleport by Aubury) to make a nice profit at level 1.
Get your pickaxes from the guy in the Falador furnace.
Coal ores make good money, as they are needed in nearly every process of making bars.
You can mine uncut gems from Neitiznot, if you're member and have 90 mining.

Smithing
Did you know that you can make a full bag of bronze bars with only 1 tin ore and 27 copper ores? Or vice versa.
Iron ores will turn into iron bars with a success rate of 100%
At level 90 you can make a Dragonfire shield by using a draconic visage on an anvil with a hammer and an anti-dragon shield in your inventory.
At level 90 you can also make godswords out of the shards dropped in the Godwars dungeon. The hilt will determine what godsword it'll be eventually.

Fishing
Get your fishing tools from Gerrant in the Fishing shop in Port Sarim.
You can fish any fish you'd ever wanted at Mudskippers point in Rimmington.
In Catherby you get caskets when you fish there, they can be opened for uncut gems and a rare chance on ornament kits!

Cooking
Always remember to wear cooking gauntlets when you are cooking, they make 100% sure you won't get anything burnt! Get them in Rimmington.

Crafting (members)
Get your tools, moulds, thread and balls of wool from Dommik at the crafting shop in Al Kharid.
High crafting can be quite useful as you can make Amulets of glory and Fury amulets out of dragonstone and onyx. They sell quite good.

Agility (members)
Agility increases your maximum capacity of 100 running to 250 running at level 99. It also recharges much faster. You can also use many useful shortcuts, like the pipe in Barbarian dungeon.
Agility benefits are only active during active membership!
The agility course in Barbarian outpost also features a level 90 Agility extension! Just run up the wall left to the climbing net.

Slayer (members)
Go to a slayer master to get a slayer task. Kill the amount of monsters that your task indicate and you receive xp for every kill.
High slayer levels enable you to kill special slayer monsters, who drop a lot of exclusive stuff that can be sold.
You can only damage special slayer monsters if you have an active membership!

Moneymaking
  • If you're just starting out, ask around if players need feathers or vials with water. You can get these easily at level 3 and they sell quite good (500gp - 1k each commonly). Kill chickens at Lumbridge or buy empty vials in the General store and fill them at the waterpump near the west bank of Falador.
  • Selling runes, potions and food are good to earn your money with and, as mentioned above, the raw materials and required levels are not hard to get. Especially being able to make prayer potions can be a lucrative business.
  • Bones business is quite expensive. Collect Dagganoth Bones by killing Dagganoths in the Dagganoth cave. They also drop various highvalued herbs.
You can access this cave by talking to the Ghost Captain at level 7 Wilderness. (not the one in Falador park). Watch out for PK'ers on your way there.
  • Dragon bones are a good and safer alternative, and they're almost just as expensive. Dragons also drop other valuable stuff, like dragon armour and half keys.
  • Deeper in the Dagganoth Cave are the Avatars located. Although they don't show any combat level I recommend not to attack them. They are some of the strongest monsters in the game and kill you easily. Protection prayers help a bunch! These Third Age Avatars drop some of the strongest gear ingame, for each respective combat style.
  • PK'ing can be a dangerous but a nice money-earning business. Make sure you got some good equipment to kill the better PK'ers and get the best loot, however, be prepared to lose your own items.
  • Try buying items for a low price and selling again while making a nice deal. This way you can easily get some profit. (called 'merching' or 'merchanting')
  • For other equipment (armour, arrows, and other equipment) you can better kill monsters than train Crafting/Smithing/Fletching. These drops are also sold quite well.
  • Slayer monsters give valued armour and equipment drops. Check 'Skill tips: Slayer' for more information about Slayer monsters.
  • Check the pricelist on the wiki regularily, it prevents you from buying things for too high prices. This saves you money. Use ::pricelist ingame for a quick redirect.

Places and Monsters

  • You should check out Rimmington, there are shops with fancy outfits there, fishing (near mudskipper point) and cooking spots, some willow/magic trees, Moss giants (that are not crowded), and a dungeon filled with Dragons and the King Black Dragon at the mining area. If you did the quest to rescue Galahad, you can talk to the fish monger in Barbarian Village to set your home teleport to Rimmington.
  • Camelot is a nice place to cut Maple and Yew trees, the easiest way to get there is using the teleport 'Teleport to Camelot' on your regular spellbook.
  • In the middle of Barbarian Village is a really large dungeon filled with low level monsters to high leveled ones, like Black Dragons and Black Demons. The way to the deepest part of the dungeon is locked, get a dusty key by killing the jailguard in the black castle underground (in the dungeon itself).
(members: use the shortcut 'Squeeze-through pipe' for a quick pass, 70 agility)
  • At Varrock you can visit the Archer's shop, two useful smithing places, and Aubury's Magic Shop. Aubury can teleport you to the Rune Essence mine, or sell you runes.  Use the Grand Exchange teleport in your quest tab to get there.
  • At Port Sarim you can buy fishing equipment at the fishing shop and buy axes/repair your barrow items at Bob's Axe shop (also located at Lumbridge). Aubury is also located in Port Sarim.
You can also take the boat to Karamja here, there are fishing spots + a bank, a small dungeon with Demons and the Fight caves, where you can fight Jad for a fire cape. A small fee of 30 gp is required, do not forget the coins! (for members; the Agility Arena is also here, at the general store)
  • The boat to Pest Control is also in Port Sarim, you can get tickets to buy Void Knight equipment here. Talk to the squire to go to Pest Control.
  • At the White Knight's Castle in Falador you can buy skill capes. Beneath Falador there is a huge mine where you can mine all kinds of ores.
  • If you accidentally popped up at the Magic Arena, in the Deep Wilderness where you cannot teleport, you can pull the lever in the ruines. It will bring you to a safe area and a banker. You can teleport from there.
  • At Canifis you can train on werewolves and members can go to the Slayer tower to kill high monsters for their loot. Talk to the Ghost Captain in Falador park to go there.
  • Near the Ghost captain you can also find the Tyras guard, ready to teleport players to either the Duel Arena or Castle wars.
  • Go to the Warriors' guild in Taverley to get the Fighter torso and offhand defender weapons in a minigame. Useful items for players who use melee and don't want to spend much.
  • The Wilderness can be dangerous, but there are useful things and npcs in it. The Ghost captain for the Dagannoth cave is there, and the Zamorak mage who can teleport you to the Abyss to craft runes. In the Black Knight's fortress you can open a crystal chest with a crystal key (parts drop from monsters). The chest rewards you with things like party hats and the Seercull bow.
  • Charged amulets and rings can teleport you to a lot of places, like the Ring of Duelling and the Amulet of Glory. If you have a high magic level, enchant the jewellery you can buy in Port Sarim. No more charges? Use the amulet on Aubury and he will recharge it for free!
  • The Kharhyll teleport on the Ancient spellbook teleports you to the eastern wilderness (level 21). You can find Hill giants, lots of Green dragons and a Wildy wyrm close to the teleportation spot!

Other (combat/training/game)

                    Combat and training
  • As a ranger or mager you can attack monsters from a safe distance. Try to find spots where melee monsters cannot attack you back. ('safe spots')
  • Watch out for Dragons, if you do not have an anti-dragon shield or a dragonfire shield even the weakest one can kill you with ease. The 'Protect from Magic' prayer also protects you against their fire breath.
  • A Magic shortbow is a powerful and fast bow, and also the cheapest. With just 1 or 2 maxhits under the Seercull and even a better special attack than the much more expensive Seercull it's considered a good choice to use as a ranged weapon. They are bought for less than 25k or even given away free, since they're being made in large amounts by high leveled skillers.
  • Instead of your regular spellbook, you can also switch it to the Ancient spellbook with more powerfull spells and useful teleports, by talking to the Dark Mage at Draynor village.
                    Game (settings)
  • If you wish to change your look and/or your gender, you can go to the Make-Over Mage, he is located in Barbarian village. You do not have to pay him to change your look and/or your gender.
  • By typing ::wedding in the chatbox you will be teleported to a church. Many players keep drop parties there.
  • ::fpson gives you information about your current frames per second rating at the right above corner of your screen (indicates lag related to your computer). Type ::fpsoff to turn it off.
  • The command ::devon gives you additional information about the client, like your specific location coördinates and how many players are nearby you. Type ::devoff to turn the option off.
  • You can tune up your client performance by deselecting certain graphic options, found in the options tab, or by using fixed screen.
  • You can drag around any interface, like the bank interface, trade interface and shop interface. It's particulary useful to negiotate while trading, as you can move the interface to read what your trading partner says if you have your public chat on hide (especially in the falador trading bank).
  • You can use the commands ::wiki ::facebook ::twitter ::forums ::account ::pricelist too for real easy redirects (immediately brings up your browser)

Tips for your security and protection
  • You should NEVER hand out your password, not to anyone! Not even moderators and administrators. And neither to your family and friends. If you write your password  down, make sure nobody finds it. I have seen numerous of players being hacked by their family and friends, don't be one of them!
  • In the Wilderness there are no special pk rules (all other rules apply of course), do not fall for scam like 'give back stuff' fights (gbs), lures with expensive items or drop parties in the Wilderness.
  • Watch out with drop party places! Some players might lead you to a dangerous place to get you killed.
  • Always be careful and slow with trading/staking, or you might get scammed.
  • Check the 'Report abuse' tab for the ingame rules, you do not wish to get banned!
  • Remember, if something is too good to be true, it probably is!
  • Be suspicious about downloads regarding Emps, they might contain viruses to hack you. There are no cheats/bots for Emps! This also counts for any other site than Emps that asks for your name and password. Don't use the same password on fansites, clansites or related forums hosted by players.

Any doubts? Try to find your answer on the wiki first, and then consult a high leveled player or a staff member about it. The shoutbox or the general Emps World clan chat is usually also a good place to ask something.

Guides / Emps-Kit - Version 0.6
« on: September 28, 2014, 03:13:30 am »
Emps-Kit
Bringing the experience to you...

What is Emps-Kit?

Emps-Kit is a calculator which holds information about all of the skill experience rates in Emps-World. This means that you no longer have to find the experience and calculate yourself. The calculator is very simple but is very useful at the same time. The calculator has been designed by Il Pk I using information from the Emps-World Wiki.

When does Emps-Kit get updated?

Emps-Kit is an on-going project, it will never be finished as the experience rates change all the time. When the experience rates change I will be updating them, however this might not happen instantly. When you download Emps-Kit you will be able to see the current version near the bottom, this will tell you if the calculator is up to date, or out of date. Emps-Kit will NOT automatically update, you will have to do this yourself, the current version will simply alert you.

Where can I download Emps-Kit?

The main download link for the Emps-Kit will be located here. However this link will not always stay the same as when I update the calculator I will have to re-upload it. Therefore if you were thinking of bookmarking the link I would recommend bookmarking this topic instead so you can find the link with much more ease. Please note that Emps-Kit is a .exe file, this means that websites do not often allow these to be uploaded, I have bypassed this by storing it inside a .rar file (you can extract it using WinRAR).

Download links can be found at:

Enhancements

Many items provide you with experience boosts of some kind therefore I have added the option to Emps-Kit, however please note this feature may not work as intended. If you do notice any problems with this feature please report them within this topic and I will try to fix them as soon as possible.

Something missing?

As I said previously this is an on-going project which means I will be listening to your feedback to add/update anything which you feel is incorrect or could be an improvement to the calculator. If you do have any feedback please post it within the topic using the layout below:
