And we'll just get another wave of complaints regarding the OP nature of both weapons, changes were made for a reason, people were mass using these two weapons and variety was serverely lacking in pvp, it still is. There were two decent options for this; they could be nerfed into the ground or they could be nerfed slightly and made less common, which one would you rather have?
Let's take the costs of a ranged setup for pures with morrigans javelins and compare it to a melee setup for pures. Let's assume both are skulled and using the protect item prayer.
Ranged setup:
- Robin hat + boots + studded body + black d'hide chaps - 500k
- 25 D darts, comp ogre + d arrows, 2 morrigan's javelins - 2m
- Fury, vigour, ava - 3m
Total value: 5.5m
Total risk: 4m
Fury is kept, both javelins are used, subtracting 1.5m from the value dropped.
Melee setup:
- Headband + studded body + black d'hide chaps + climbing boots - 2m
- D scim + d defender + d claws - 13m
- Fury, vigour, fire cape - 11m
Total value: 26m
Total risk: 14m
Claws are kept, subtracting 12m from the value dropped.
The ranged setup is even superior, it has a 'kill weapon' that can be used for larger hits when your special energy is at 0%. You would have to pay more to get another for melee. Ranged setups are way cheaper than melee ones and have a lot more killing potential for their cost, ranged has a distance advantage, ranged adds less combat levels in general. There are SO many reasons why ranged outshines melee in PvP, especially for pures. And you want even cheaper setups?
I'll repeat it again, what would you rather have; less common morrigans, morrigans that is nerfed to the ground or everyone in the wilderness only using morrigans?
About the javelin, I think the way the special attack works makes it prone to imbalance. It is able to both execute and set up kills. It hits very high and the damage over time effect can set up kills very well. It should be given a direction, instead of it being the best of both worlds. My vote would be to turn it into a weapon that would allow you to set up kills. It would no longer hit 40s and then do it's dps effect, it would hit and then deal that hit as the DoT effect. Meaning that the spec would not hurt as much if you're at high hp, but will hurt when you're lower hp and it is used in a combo.
