Hey guys,

I've got quite a lot of things ready for today. So let's start... :)

Obsidian Terror
I'm proud to present you our first quest that is fully scripted! I've intensively been working on our scripting engine, which will allow us to deliver quest content much faster in the future. You can start the quest by talking to TzHaar, who can be found in the eastern part of the obsidan caves. It's marked with a quest icon on the minimap.

Obsidian Terror contains a bit of everything. You'll explore unknown caves on your own and will be rewarded with access to a new area that contains new monsters to be slain! There's also a new unique item drop, which you can see on the screenshot above.

Following things have been updated:
  • Chronozon now has a rare hell kitten drop
  • The Karamja Agility Arena has received a new ticket gain system. You now no longer share the arrow of your dispenser with all other people. Everyone gets a custom location and it will immediately reset when you tick a dispenser. Thus, you're now able to gain tickets at your speed.
  • PID shuffling has been added. PID is the internal Player IDentifier you get when logging into the game. Lower ids sometimes have advantages in the game. Although we do our best to avoid these advantages, they can still happen. The only way to make this fair, is to shuffle the PIDs. You still keep your PID, it won't change, but the server will now randomly process them instead of ascending order. Players will notice this in how the game registers your attacks in places such as the Duel arena.
  • The hit system has majorly been reworked. Before the update, the hit on an entity (player or npc) was registered 0.5 secs before you could see it. This delay has been removed with this update. You're now able to heal yourself before the hit is actually registered on your character. This won't allow you to avoid death in every situation, it merely gives you a 0.5 second time span to react on an incoming hit.

Small changes and bugfixes
  • You can now realistically obtain cake ingredients and complete realistic cake tasks (goodbye baking 5000 cakes!)
  • Smithing items that usually come in stacks now have realistic tasks (bolts, knives, arrowtips)
  • Menaphite cosmetic sets are now dropped in full by bandits.
  • Mutant tarns now count for their full combat level when doing slayer or combat tasks.
  • You can now KO players and monsters with vesta spear specials (before it would only do 90% of your hit, and since Emps does not use overkill you were never able to kill something with the special)
  • The way special attacks work has been adjusted. You should no longer find yourself in situations where your special attack won't activate when you quickly switch your weapon.
  • Players will now be able to find hunter skill items in the skill items exchange just like all the other items.
  • A bug was fixed where entities (players and npcs) were partly or completely invisible.
  • Air spell animations updated.
  • Abyssal demons have had their droptable reworked because of the new Obsidian dragons.
  • Obsidian items are now solely dropped by Obsidian dragons.

All the best,
Thomy

Update Notes / Updates - May 24th 2016 - A new pet!
« on: May 16, 2016, 06:57:49 am »
Hey guys,

Here are the changes for today, with some tweaking, neat new additions and new content.

Following things have been updated:
  • Arrows you pickup now directly go into your quiver if they are of the same arrow type, regardless if you have free inventory space or not.
  • The fail chance for Agility has been reworked. You should find yourself failing less often with lower Agility levels now, especially in the Karamja Agility Arena.
  • Several Agility animations updated for Karamja Agility Arena.
  • Corporeal beast now has a chance of 0.1% to drop a Baby corporeal beast version. The pet is not tradeable.
  • A completely new tutorial has been added to the game. This content is fully scripted with our scripting engine. You can use a portal from Barbarian village to Tutorial island if you want to visit the place. Or just register a new account and check out the full tutorial.
  • New players do no longer get 24h of double xp. We want to move double xp completely to the daily task system and have it be rewarded to those players that spend a lot of time in the game.

Small changes and bugfixes
  • Farming tasks are slightly longer, slayer tasks have been made shorter, since you have less choice in what you can kill.
  • Several other tasks were removed, such as bread, sweetcorn, rabbit and bird meat, rabbit foot amulet crafting.
  • KBD standard drop of 3 dragonhides is now noted.
  • Bandits now drop menaphite clothes.
  • You can now slice watermelons again.
  • Bandos helm on male and female will no longer glitch on certain platebodies.
  • Mining now counts ores for tasks and not rocks mined.
  • Lumbridge dungeon entrance at the lumbridge castle can now be used properly.
  • Fletching task amounts were lowered.
  • Hellhounds no longer drop obsidian cape, this is replaced by lamps.
  • You can no longer use the alchemy spells on the runes the spell needs.

All the best,
Thomy

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Double xp

Ples Thome add doubl exp, pls :(((

No but really, what the hell are you whining about? Game is easy as hell. Double XP ruined the game.

Did you even read what I said? I said it was a good thing that 48 hours of double xp got removed. However, I think the step from 48 hours to 0 hours for most of us might be too big. Especially for obtaining tickets, that is terrible to do atm.

The only community that makes me want to create pictures of magical ponies (not sure why as I'm still not a fan of the show itself).
This is something I made while waiting for people to request signatures from me.

and some more that I made later:

If you're member and you complete every task each day and get a third task, you can get 7h of double xp per week, if that ain't comparable to double xp idk then (this is when you're a dedicated player, but then again ppl usually didn't utilize 7h double xp per weekend)
Actually, since you get 5 extra EP for each 10th task completed, it's 31 EP per week, which results in 10h and 20 minutes of double xp.

My problem is not with the xp itself, but minigames. The main problem is brimhaven's agility arena. Wasting scrolls there for double tickets is not worth it at all. Without double ticket weekends this mini-game is unbearable. It was already dull and time-consuming, when you could do it with double, it's even worse now. Either fix it by getting more tickets per round or lower the prices on rewards. This is not an outcry to make the items more obtainable. I've obtained every since item from that reward shop, so I know, what I'm talking about.

In my opinion, this arena requires double tickets, but I would like to see double ticket weekends in general. I'm absolutely fine with the current version of double xp.

Suggestions & Ideas / Double xp
« on: May 14, 2016, 11:37:22 am »
Well, we all know that the double xp weekends are over. However, they used to be a big part of the game. I can see why 48 hours of double xp is way too long. The only problem is that now we don't have double xp anymore. I mean no one is going to spent event points for twenty minutes of double xp, while u can get all the nice colored items, I think spending it on just twenty minutes of double xp is a waste. So something has got to change here in my opinion. I totally agree on reducing the 48 hours of double xp. But may be this can be reduced to let's say twelve hours per week. Or make the double xp scrolls last longer, like an hour instead of twenty minutes, so people are going to buy these scrolls more often, because everyone loves double xp. ;D

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Improving the current minigames
« on: April 24, 2016, 09:59:21 pm »
Both mini games are poorly designed and got even worse after the rewards were made tradable. There is no grinding. There is no challenge. There is only garbage. These will be my suggestion how to improve these two mini games and maybe  make them attractive again.

Castle-Wars:

- new win condition: stealing 10 flags. (20 minutes to complete the goal, ends in a draw when the time is up).

- new reward for the winner team: doubles all tickets gained.

- holding a flag will make you bleed (1-2 damage every second; depending on combat lvl)

- holding a flag increases your defensive bonuses by 1.5 (not sure about this idea)

- new ways of earning tickets (every player will earn tickets by himself for doing following things):
succesfully stealing a flag (3-5 points)
killing a flag holder (1 point)
each 100-300 damage done ((players only, also depending on combat level) 1 point)
setting up 10-15 barricades (1 point)

- shop prices need to be changed according to the new ticket gaining.

- no time for afker/leechers: afking without doing anykind of damage or taking flags results in 0 points. Even if your team wins you get nothing.

- new rewards: too lazy to suggest now

Pest-Control:

- npcs will no longer target void knight (WTF, right?)

- void knight loses 1 health everytime a player dies (void knight's health increases with more players).

- npc rework:
shifter: new spawn location (portal) and they ignore prayers.
spinner: they will never lose focus -> heal portal till the end (even if you attack them)
splatter: they will follow you (no attack move) and lose 1 health every second until they die (they only deal damage to players)
torcher: can additionally freeze you (10% chance) for 3 seconds
ravager: no changes.
defiler: high accurate,(very) low damage, fast hitting
brawler: less damage

- only one portal will be vulnerable at a time. Once the portal gets destroyed, a new one will lose its shield.

- everytime a portal gets destroyed, all npcs get stronger:
shifter: more damage and higher accuracy
spinner:  more health and more healing
splatter: lose health even faster and deal more damage
torcher: can additionally freeze you for 6/9/12 seconds for every destroyed portal
ravager: no changes.
defiler: more accuracy
brawler: more hp

- everytime a portal gets destroyed, npcs spawn faster.

- 1 token upon losing.

- 10 tokens upon winning (top 5 players with the most damage dealt get 1-5 additional tokens):
damage done to npcs: x1
damage done to portal: x5

- minimum requirement to receive tokens: 300 damage (GGWP leechers)

- skillers can earn tokens by repairing gates and barricades (25 'damage' each)

- shop prices need to be changed according to the new token gains.

- shop rework: too lazy to suggest now

What was I thinking?

Castle-Wars is insanely boring. When both teams just afk-steal flags for 20 minutes and every1 gets 10-15 points, you know something went wrong.
With these suggestions, you really want to win because of the juicy reward (double tickets).
Additionally it is not all about the flags anymore, but also about how much damage you deal to your enemies (fighting is rewarding *kreygasm*). Of course stealing flags should give the most tickets because the main goal is to steal the flags.

I think Pest-Control is a total desaster (same as castle-wars :doge:). In a 'pvm minigame' where people fight more against themselves (attacker vs defender and flaming towards people who do not want to farm) than against the actual game is more than just retarded.
With my suggestions, I wanted to make sure that all players unite and try to win by doing the same thing: Dealing most damage (skillers got no rights). Making the npcs stronger and more annoying everytime a portal gets destroyed brings the game to the next level.

With this suggestions both mini-games will be unique (emps-world is known as having unique content) and leechers/afker have no chance to earn anything.
The rewards are also a big deal, but I honestly do not know what to add there since too much damage was already done (tradable void, etc.)

I feel that these are needed, but it may be risky because people might just stop playing those minigames
