This is one of the methods that has been suggested in the past for item sinking ( I don't know If I liked this idea back then or not )
However I am sure I don't like it now,

At some point we had around 200+ or even 300 online players, all of em pvmed and afaik the drop rates back then were a bit higher such thing resulted on a lot of items entering the game, then the number dropped to half or even 1/3 of what it used to be.
one of the methods ( possibly the only method ) was to reduce the timer so people who die might lose their items -> less items ing.

I wouldn't mind changing it back to 5 mins or so as I find it unfair for people who has slow pc which results on em not pvming because the risk of them dying and not being able to get their items back ( there is no point on buying a ga which worth 20mil+ for people who use a set that worth less than ga )

Simple suggestion yet can be very effective in making more demands for runes.

Instead of having Bob to repair damage/broken magic weapons for certain amount of coins (gp sink ik). Let's create a demand for runes by using runes to recharge the magic weapons. This will create a demand for runes and also create gp sink if we rise the price of runes in shop? Making runes in shop a little more expensive than those sell by players.

Repair: These numbers/runes can be modify to any amount/types
Rod: 2k Blood, 2k soul, and 2k death runes.
Chaotic staff: 5k soul, 1k minds, 5k law, 4k Astral.
Demon wand and orb. 5k Blood, 5k Death, 5k soul, 5k Astral, 5k lava, and 5k laws.
Can also use runes to repair Ahrim set.

Or maybe we can just use runes to recharge the spellcast of rod and z staff but still let these two weapons fixed by Bob and spectral energy?

Since Jhonson started actively hosting events with some other mods then I thought why should we not give them more exposure on the front page of the forums.

Here is an example what I mean:



This could bring more inactive players back to the game which did only visited forums for the memes or can even bring new players to the game which would be interested to take a part of in these events.

I think I made this too unclear in the news post, so I'll clarify things:
  • The system currently is bugged - working on it! There's interference problems with ironmen accounts, because they cannot accept aid by default.
  • You are able to get new tasks together.
  • You are able to complete the same task together.
  • You share experience and kill count together.
  • You must accept aid (ironmen currently can't!) to be a slayer partner.

The slayer update sounds nice but just one partner at a time is kind of gay. How about making it a clan chat thing? The rule that the clan members whose slayer xp is shared would need to be close would still apply, but it would allow clans to have slayer events where people don't need to change their partners all the time and occasionally may have more than one partner.
Would encourage people to encourage other people to train slayer, even if they already have a buddy.
To make sure that not too much extra xp is awarded, the amount of xp could be based on a formula that awards more xp total but less xp per person with every extra person.
Something like:

XpAwardedToNearbyClanMembers = (OriginalSlayerXp * 0.125 * (NumberOfClanMembers + 1)) / NumberOfClanMembersWhich is rounded up to the nearest integer (else when we get a million players, then there would be a possibility that the bonus xp may be rounded down to 0 :(, so rounding up sets the minimum at 1 xp if there are lots of people doing the same task together in the same clan).

That would be the same 25% bonus if someone just has 1 buddy getting 1 kill, 12.5% extra for every extra buddy getting 1 extra kill, while awarding less xp for every extra buddy not pulling their weight.

You underestimate how big of a factor attack speed is. Dragon darts were the top DPS weapon by a mile even though the offensive stats were pure garbage, before they were nerfed.

I also do not understand why you're talking about DPS when the only thing you're actually comparing is str bonus/second (not even actual damage). Accuracy and attack speed are huge factors. There's an inbuilt DPS calculator in game so I have no idea why you're comparing these numbers instead of the exact DPS values given by the calculator.

General Discussion / Comparing melee chaotic weapons.

Currently there's chaotic maul, chaotic rapier and chaotic longsword. For my calculations, I'll assume that you're wearing a dragon defender with the 1h weapons, and I'll use the info from the wiki, so there's a chance it'll be incorrect, but oh well.

Dragon defender stats (so I won't have to mention them again and just add them up):

+20 melee accuracy
+10 melee strength

Chaotic maul:

Attacks every 3s, is 2h therefore you can't wear a dragon defender.

The stats:

+139 melee accuracy
+123 melee strength bonus

123 / 3 = 41 strength bonus/1s (the higher the number, the better.)

Chaotic longsword:

Attacks every 3s, is 1h meaning you can take a dragon defender with it.

The stats:

+116 melee accuracy
+102 melee strength

112 / 3 = 37,3 strength bonus/1s

Chaotic rapier:

Attacks every 2.5s, is also 1h.

The stats:

+92 melee accuracy
+82 melee strength

92 / 2,5 = 36,8 melee strength bonus/1s

If comparing the DPS, Chaotic maul wins by quite a lot. Chaotic longsword comes second place, closely followed by chaotic rapier. But keep in mind that the chaotic maul is two handed, therefore you can't have a shield when wearing it. Therefore, if you want a shield, chaotic longsword would be the best option since it offers better accuracy and DPS. The only reason why you should buy a rapier is if you want the bonus attack speed.

Edit: The weapons also give 10% damage and accuracy against your slayer task, so the more strength bonus and accuracy you have, the more effective it is.

Edit #2: Chaotic weapons are also degradeable, so the faster it attacks, the faster it loses it's charges. Chaotic rapier attacks 0.5 seconds faster than the other two options, so it loses charges around 15% faster.
