Title: Woodcutting guide
Post by: Matty Patty on September 25, 2014, 01:15:24 am
Table of contents:
I. Intro
II. Supplies
III. Trees
IV: Tips

I:Intro:

Woodcutting is a skill which is very useful since it is profitable or lets you train other skills. Woodcutting involves cutting different types of trees.

II: Supplies:
Start woodcutting off by walking South of Falador towards Port Sarim. You can find him in a store with an axe logo on it. In this store you will find Bob he sells hatchets and battleaxes.

You can buy axes from Bronze to Rune from Bob:
Bronze: 22 coins
Iron: 74 coins
Steel: 253 coins
Black: 472 coins
Mithril: 632 coins
Adamant: 1,501 coins
Rune: 13,635 coins

Maps on how to get to where the trees are located or where the general location is of those trees:

Trees located in Catherby or Camelot area:
Blue-Willow trees
Red-Maple trees (Willows next to the Maples also)
Black-Yews

III: Trees:

Tree:
45 exp
Level: 1
Recommended: level 1 to level 20
Location: Everywhere (Recommended Rimmington)
Oak tree:
100 exp
Level: 15
Recommended: level 20 to level 30, or 40
Location: Rimmington
(http://i61.tinypic.com/2ijhfs6.gif)
Willow tree:
200 exp
Level: 30
Recommended: level 30 or 40 to level 60
Location: Camelot bank beside the maples (because maples will be your next tree and Rimmington is bugged as of right now)
Maple tree:
250 exp
Level: 45
Recommended: level 60 to level 75
Location: Camelot bank
(http://i57.tinypic.com/s6t4rl.gif)
Yew tree:
340 exp
Level: 60
Recommended: level 75 to level 85 or around 90
(or 75-99, faster than magics but less money)
Location: South of Falador by the castle walls, Rimmington North-West of bank, Camelot South of bank
(http://i62.tinypic.com/2guihyw.png)
Magic tree:
458 exp
Level: 75
Recommended: level 85-90 to level 99 (most money gained by more levels chopping magic trees)
Location: Behind the Duel Arena

IV: Tips
-I would advise training your woodcutting higher than the required level before you start chopping those trees, since it will be faster. For example if you're getting Yews instead of doing it at 60, I would say around 70-75.
-I would also advise getting a Dragon axe if you can afford one since it will let you train woodcutting faster. It will increase your profit, or experience you gain compared to a Rune axe.

This is a good guide, Skill3r Way9.

Well done.

I do have a couple of points for you:

For your illustrations, make your legend more clear to players, for I found it difficult to notice what the coloured lines represented until I noticed your legend (which took me a while because it wasn't obvious), so try and make the legend more obvious so that players know where it is and thus know what each coloured line represents. Also, maybe try and make the lines and circles in the illustrations clearer; use shape-making tools and straight lines for a better presentation.

When you explain each tree, you should mention where the best locations are for each type of tree (such as nearness to a bank or general store).  You should also (if you have the knowledge) suggest what you find to be the best exp-rates for leveling; an example of this would be the following: "Level 1-20 = regular trees, Level 20-40 = oak trees, Level 40-60 (or 99) = willow trees, Level 60-99 = maple trees."

Lastly, you should try working on your text.  I find that a lot of important information is lost because you don't have it organized well enough; try fiddling with font sizes, colours, and other modifications.  Your wording is clear enough to understand, but it would be helpful if you were more concise with what you are trying to convey.

All in all, though, you've done a good job; thank you for this guide.

I changed the color scheme to green text for the headings since Woodcutting is a green colored skill if that makes sense. I also took in the locations into mind and added the common spots to chop the trees.

Thanks for the positive reply, and recommendations.

I am glad people start using table of content, so when people come and check they can go to the desired part of the guide right away :D

One suggestion, usually tips should come first, not at the end.. it's not a must but yeah..

Overall great guide gj.

The thing that surprises me is that the community really helps out the server by making helpful and most important good guides.
You did a great job and deserve a cookie for it!
Well done 10/10

6/10.

1. Missing 2 Magic trees' location (Rimmington and Sorcerers' tower)
2. Could also add the logs it takes to reach the next level (or max). For an example, how many magic logs does it take 85-99.
3. http://i58.tinypic.com/1z6qct4.png Quite confusing, even more confusing for new comers.
4. Could also add 1 more tip: using home teleport (set to Rimmington) while chopping Yews/Magic trees in Rimmington is a lot faster than running.
