Pvp points system

I know it have been explained a thousand times, but I still don't understand the whole pvp points system...
I died, lost 8 pvp points... I killed one, I only get 1 pvp point?
Someone who really knows this system ( Martin, Thomy, ... ), could you please explain it to me  ???

your kill = below 50 points -> you get 1 point
your kill = higher than your points -> you get 5 points
everyone that does not meet in these thresholds you get 3 points for killing

if you die, you lose 5 points if your total is higher than your enemy, if not then you lose 3 points
