FPS
« on: January 13, 2016, 10:27:54 pm »
Why do I have so low FPS while playing this game? While in GE it drops even more. All other games, with higher requirements, work fine at high FPS.

 ??? ??? ???

I dont get emps at all anymore, changing graphics settings that are suppose to decrease fps off increase fps. And vice versa with many graphic settings.
The game keeps loading textures and whatnot despite having loaded everything manually. Everytime I teleport to a certain place I never know what I get, sometimes I teleport to varrock and I only see a tree for the first 5 seconds, sometimes few buildings. Sometimes when I have various graphics settings off/or its different again.

Stock settings give me 50 fps compared to when I last played (around 180)... 50 drops to 5 teleporting, or when loading and trust me it drops constantly because the game constantly loads different objects over-over again.

I do have a problem with my graphics card, overheating due dust but it doesn't make a difference ingame if I play after pc has been shut down for few hours or its constantly running.
Loading objects, whatever they may be seem to become unresponsive which causes delay ingame (freezes, or other delay related to some activity)

My cpu settings are optimal to take the best of what little I have, I have no clue if they are optimal for emps-world or whatever but lets just say back in the day I didnt need to optimize my settings to play emps-world.

There's a problem with my display drivers or something that I keep ignoring, probably easy fix from what I've read. But it doesn't make sense to me that its the cause either, because many people have similar problems to me and I doubt they all have same pc issues as I do.

Im posting this because not only has my fps dropped, the game quality related to graphics have dropped significantly.

I used to run emps-world smooth as silk when VBO mode first came out, with VBO mode enabled it became even better. VBO still Works but now with same settings as back in the day this game is not responding properly in one way or another. <i dont understand>

Afaik I cared all the graphics updates to the game have done in a way that avg. players hardly feel any performance issues, makes me wonder why I experience what seems to be ALL the performance issues?

In the sake of my moderation level: Im not saying omg fix my computer or the server, Im trying to find a solution to my problem. If I remember correctly I used to get ~90 fps pre VBO, and like 150-180 with VBO.
I did not have any issues like loading textures and random delays ingame either, now whenever the game decides to keep loading a npc texture or thats what it seems I can't even attack the said npc, I get stuck and follow it around.

Also something is seriously off with brightness levels (adjusting) it.Whenever I change the brightness ingame the whole surrounding area keeps loading again, even if I have gone through the brightness levels few times.

EDIT2: Neither I am posting this feedback so Thomy would revert any graphics updates to a point it worked for me, I simply don't care about graphics in emps from a visual standpoint.

::Openglinfo and paste here so we can see what youre using to run emps
You can try increasing ram assigned at the laucher settings for a start

Still doesn't make sense how can such a low graphics game have lower fps than an actual game.

considering im averaging 122 on my laptop i don't think that has anything to do with the game but more the combination of the game and the settings you run it with.

You can try updating your nvidia driver considering im on opengl version 4.5 and youre on 3.3, but i see no reason why you would be lagging unless your hardware performance is bad in general.

Can you show me a screenshot of your Game Settings? A new rendering technique is already being developed for months, which is going to get us additional 50% fps. You can already test it in the meanwhile (Multi Model buffering).

The fps should overall become much better in crowded areas. I went from 40 to 60+fps at the Grand Exchange. Thanks for the feedback! :)
