you might wanna try https://www.codecademy.com/
I did try it and learn a little but just didn't have the patience
I've finished the whole thing, it's nothing special. It's kind of fun in a way if you're interested in it and might even be fun and cause you to get more interested in programming if you weren't interested in it before, but as for actually learning programming I would consider it a waste of time.
I tried a few other sites similar to it, but where I found something that was actually serious about teaching was when I started Harvard's CS50x course, which is an online course that anyone can take for free (you have to pay if you want to get a certificate of having completed the course, but you can pay for the certificate after you complete the course as well so don't spend too much time thinking about whether you want to pay for one right away)
https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:HarvardX+CS50+X/infoI've not yet completed the whole course, but I plan to and the course also includes recommended reading for programming books, some of which are available online for free, others I borrowed from pirate sites.
Getting programming books seems to be the best way to go, so whether or not you try the course, definitely acquire books.
If you do try the course then don't worry about it being close to the end of the year either, the deadline was extended till December 31, 2017.
